One of the ways to help charity food banks is to donate when you do your regular shop at a supermarket. Many supermarkets will have a box for customers to put food bank donations in.

One great way to assist your local food bank remotely is tohost a virtual food drive! Unlike a traditional food drive in which youd collect canned food items from your family and friends, during a virtual food drive, youll collect funds for donation to your local food bank.

Become A Social Media Ambassador
Food Banks Social Media Ambassador Program is a way for volunteers to amplify resources for New Yorkers facing food insecurity, boost Food Banks mission on social media, and advocate by using their voices creatively and intentionally online all while earning volunteer service hours.
Volunteers choose actions to complete , tag #FoodBankAmbassador, and document with screenshots to earn service hours for posting.
Join A Virtual Service Event
Food Bank hosts largescale Virtual Service Hours on Zoom, bringing together volunteers from across the country to join in impactful virtual service activities. These events pair virtual service with educational panel conversations on food insecurity topics with guest speakers.
Recent virtual events have included our Virtual Day of Service for MLK Day with guest speaker Reverend Rasheed Baird, and People Get Periods: A Virtual Service Hour and Conversation on Period Poverty with US Congresswoman Grace Meng.

After a nearly two year pause of in-person volunteering due to COVID-19, we are thrilled to welcome volunteers back at our Community Kitchen & Pantry in West Harlem and our Warehouse & Distribution Center in the Bronx!
As always, the safety of our volunteers, staff, and those we proudly serve is paramount. All volunteers must agree to our COVID-19 Waiver in order to participate in-person. All volunteers must also show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 and wear a mask that properly covers the nose and mouth at all in-person volunteer events.

Volunteers Like You Are Essential To Providing Food For Oklahomans Living With Hunger
Through this on-site volunteer experience, volunteers like you sort, pack and prepare food for a variety of Regional Food Bank Programs.
Activities may include:
- Assembling sacks of nutritious food for the Food for Kids Backpack Program
- Packing Commodity Supplemental Food Program boxes full of food for seniors living on fixed incomes
- Sorting and packing bread, produce, package meals and/or cans
Because the Regional Food Banks inventory changes daily, the Regional Food Bank cannot guarantee volunteers who sign up to work in the Volunteer Center will pack and prepare food for a specific program.

High Plains Food Bank Asking For Volunteers To Distributing As Much Food To The Texas Panhandle
AMARILLO, Texas – The amount of volunteers have been down for nearly two years. The High Plains Food Bank says an influx of volunteers would help tremendously.
Volunteers do everything from inspecting donations like these to tending in the garden. The High Plains Food Bank says they have yet to see pre-COVID-19 numbers of volunteers.
Its very crucial that we have our volunteers. Our volunteers are basically the backbone and how we get everything done all of our repack how we do our salvage operations are basically the backbone of our entire operations, says Dennis Howard, Product Recovery Coordinator, High Plains Food Bank.
The food bank says having a holiday season with less covid cases caused a lack in volunteers.
But as it stands right now, we have for these next couple months, January into February, we really dont have many scheduled groups on the calendar to even come in, says Zack Wilson, Executive Director, High Plains Food Bank.
After seeing a busy December in terms of donations, the food bank says they need all the help they can get.
So, the worst case scenario is, were not distributing as much food to the Texas Panhandle to help folks out in their time of need right now, as we can and it all kind of goes back down to volunteers being a key part of our of our organization, says Wilson.

Food Banks Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program has put more than $1 billion back into the pockets of low-income New Yorkers, and we rely on over 300 dedicated volunteers each tax season to support this impactful anti-poverty work.
This Tax Season, Food Bank will be offering three models of tax filing services: Contactless In-Person , Social Distanced In-Person , and Virtual . NOTE: Volunteers must present proof of vaccination for in-person volunteer shifts.
We Are Always Adapting Our Policies And Set
- Masks As of March 1st, 2022, masks are no longer required at MFB. While not required, we strongly recommend that volunteers still wear masks if they are not fully vaccinated, are at high risk due to a health condition, or are still concerned about COVID risks and fee more comfortable wearing a mask.
