The Pantry Director salary and a portion of the salary for the Deacon of St. Marks Cathedral are paid from the Hildegardes Pantry restricted accounts . These positions play a critical role in organizing our ministrys efforts to care for those in need.

In addition, funds are used for special food items, such as holiday foods , miscellaneous pantry supplies, gas for volunteer delivery five times per week, lunch one time per week for Monday volunteers who are at the pantry an average of 5 hours unloading trucks, breaking down pallets, stocking shelves, and refrigerator and freezer and cleanings.

Can I Borrow The Food Banks Barrels To Collect My Food

Yes the Food Bank will provide our famous red donation barrels, which we can be dropped off at your location at the beginning of your food drive and picked up at the end. Our food drive barrels are 3 ft. tall x 2 ft. wide and can hold up to 200 pounds of donated food items. We also offer small cardboard boxes that can hold up to 30 pounds of food.

You are welcome to pick up these items directly from our warehouse yourself. You will be asked to indicate your preferences when you fill out the online food drive registration form.

What Is The Food Pantry

In partnership with Community Action Services and Food Bank, this on-campus food pantry is available to students, faculty, and staff struggling with food insecurity. The UVU Food Pantry offers canned goods and boxed items along with basic hygiene items, and some baby products such as formula, diapers, etc. These items are available only when our partner Community Action Services and Food Bank has them in stock. The UVU Food Pantry provides bags for students to use during their visit, though students are encouraged to bring reusable bags.

In addition, meal vouchers for campus restaurants are also available for use up to three times per semester.

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please keep in mind that sometimes we are in meetings or attending other events during these hours.

    Food or other donations can be dropped off Tuesday or Thursday from 10:00-12:00 or by calling the food bank to schedule

    Here at Harmons we love local, and that goes for local causes too! This is one of the reasons we accept donations for Utah Food Bank at all of our locations all year long. Utah Food Bank has been a cornerstone of the Utah community since 1904 and Harmons is proud to be one of their partners.

    The last few months have been filled with uncertainty. Utahns across the state have been affected by rising unemployment and economic hardship. School closures have made it difficult for children to access meals they would normally receive at school. More than ever, Utah families are turning to local food banks to put food on the table. It is estimated that food-insecure Utahns will increase by 165,000 individuals in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. An increasing number of first-time recipients are seeking services from Utah Food Bank. Consequently, Utah Food Bank has seen a sharp increase in demand.

    Here is where you come in! As a Harmons shopper, you can support your community by donating to Utah Food Bank. Your local Harmons store has a collection site set up for food donations. Stop by to drop off items from home or pick some up during your shopping trip.

    Utah Food Bank requests that food donations:

    • Be low in sodium
    • Do not contain high fructose corn syrup

    Utah Food Bank Grant Allows Taylorsville Pantry Operators To Purchase Two Much

    Two new freezers at the Taylorsville Food Pantry are used primarily to keep meat products fresh.

    At a cost of more than $3,300 each, two large, brand new, stainless steel freezers are now keeping meat fresh at the Taylorsville Food Pantry, thanks to a grant from the Utah Food Pantry. And local pantry operators say the grant could not have come at a better time, because a paperwork misstep prevented them from receiving their customary Community Development Block Grant funding last year.

    Our annual operating budget is $18,000 to $22,000 per year, with about $15,000 coming through CDBG funding, said food pantry board member Morris Pratt. The CDBG money is approved by the Taylorsville City Council each year and they have never turned our request down. But, last year, we had a paperwork snafu and didnt get our grant request processed in time. So, the $7,500 grant from the Utah Food Bank came at the perfect time.

    A decade ago, Pratt was a Taylorsville City Councilman himself. Now hes president of Tri-Park Services, the entity that operates the Taylorsville Food Pantry as a 501 non-profit organization. His only two paid, part time pantry employees are the mother and daughter team of Warehouse Manager Sue Lane and Eligibility Manager Tiffany Diaz. But they certainly dont operate the pantry alone.

    The Taylorsville Food Pantry serves about 1,200 people per month. Diaz says COVID-19 has increased demandbut not as dramatically as they had feared.

    Who Can Use It

    Criteria: You must be a UVU student taking at least 6 credits during the Fall/Spring semesters or faculty/staff working at UVU. During the Summer terms, students do not need to be enrolled in school to use the Food Pantry. Additionally, you must sign a statement of need. Family includes dependents or spouse of the student.

    Instructions: Use the bit.ly link above to access the Online Ordering Form. You will need to login using your UVU ID and password. Once you have logged in, it should open the form. Submit your order and you will receive a confirmation email by 2 p.m. the day of pick-up. When you arrive at the Center for Social Impact , please make sure to have your UVU ID on hand to verify identity.

    How Do I Schedule A Pick

    Your pickup will be scheduled immediately after registration, and you will receive this date in your confirmation email. If your barrels become full during your food drive and you want to schedule an additional pickup, please contact the Food Bank and we will stop by on our next available pickup time.

    Hosting A Food & /or Fund Drive

    Hosting a food & fund drive is a great way to support the 410,000 Utahns facing hunger.

    Thank you for your interest in hosting a food & /or fund drive to benefit Utah Food Bank. Food drives that collect 500 lbs. or more are eligible for Utah Food Bank transportation services for supplies and food pick up. Please arrange to have your donations ready for pickup in a centralized location on the first floor of your building. If there is a large amount of food, we appreciate having someone from your organization available to assist our driver.

    Fresh Food Thursdays is a new program, in partnership with Community Action Services& Food Bank, to bring fresh produce to UVU students. Students just need a reusable bag and a UVU ID to shop the fresh fruits and vegetables. This free event is held every other week. Come check us out in the Demo Kitchen, 1-3 p.m.

    Food vouchers may be picked up in the Center for Social Impact, SC 105.

    The UVU Food Pantry has now partnered with United Way and Doordash to offer food order delivery for UVU students. You must live within 10 miles of the Orem campus and fill out this application.

    What Items Should People Donate

    The Food Bank always needs a variety of nonperishable goods, such as canned tuna, canned chicken, canned fruit, peanut butter, beans and cereal.
