Treasure Coast Food Bank , the largest hunger relief organization on Floridas Treasure Coast, works tirelessly to provide direct services and outreach programs to help support children, seniors, and families in need. With a staff of over 50 employees, and a fleet of more than 8,500 volunteers, TCFB distributes millions of meals annually to our neighbors in Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee counties.

This holiday season, the Treasure Coast Food Bank is collaborating with partners in Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee Counties to provide meal assistance to those in need.

Want to help provide food security for our neighbors year-round? You can volunteer, donate money from your Donor Advised Fund, or collect canned food to donate to the Treasure Coast Food Bank. For every $1 donated, the organization can provide eight meals.

Treasure Coast Food Bank Urges Community To Donate As High Food Costs Drive Need

In the wake of high food costs and continued supply chain issues, Treasure Coast Food Bank is seeing more need for food at a time when it has less to provide. Food Bank shelves are not as well-stocked this summer, which means there isnt enough of the basic pantry staples that every household could use.

Treasure Coast Food Bank is asking the community to pitch in by holding food drives or making a cash donation to help those in need of food.

Summer is always a difficult time when kids are home from school and families must provide those additional meals at home that kids usually get from school cafeterias. This year, its even more challenging because there is less coming in from our retail partners, said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. Were asking the community to help us stock the Food Bank shelves right now while need is the highest.

There is an urgent need for canned beans, canned soups and chili, canned fruits or vegetables, canned meats, like tuna and chicken, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, cereal, oatmeal, grits, rice, pasta and pasta sauce.

Anyone with items to donate can bring them to the food banks main warehouse at 401 Angle Road in Fort Pierce. There also are other drop-off locations throughout the Treasure Coast, which can be found by visiting stophunger.org/givefood/. Donations of money also can be made online at stophunger.org.

Treasure Coast Food Bank Receives $175000 Donation From Publix

Fort Pierce – Tuesday November 22, 2022: Treasure Coast Food Bank has received a $175,000 donation from Publix Super Markets Charities to purchase and equip a self-select, mobile food pantry. Publix will also donate 500,000 pounds of fresh produce during the first year to stock the pantry. Treasure Coast Food Bank serves 225,000 people facing food insecurity in the four-county area of Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee counties.

The self-select mobile food pantry will expand Treasure Coast Food Banks program known as Market Fresh on the Move that delivers affordable nutritious food to communities that lack access now. Market Fresh on the Moves grocery stores on wheels are stocked with fresh produce, dairy and meats as well as pantry staples. They make regular stops in so-called food deserts, enabling those communities to shop for healthy food.

We are so grateful to receive this donation from Publix and Publix Super Markets Charities, which will provide thousands of pounds of fresh produce to our neighbors in need and expand our Market Fresh on the Move program, said Judith Cruz, President and CEO of Treasure Coast Food Bank. Market Fresh on the Move has been successful in providing fresh, nutritious food to communities that lack access, and were excited about the opportunity to expand the program with an additional vehicle that this gift will provide.

Treasure Coast Food Bank Needs A Donation Of 500 Additional Turkeys To Fulfill The Need On Thanksgiving

Fort Pierce – Tuesday November 15, 2022: Treasure Coast Food Bank is in need of about 500 additional turkeys for families seeking help for the Thanksgiving holiday this year.

The high cost of food and other necessities has put a strain on household budgets across the Treasure Coast, and the Food Bank already has seen an increase in the number of people seeking help for a holiday meal.

To make it easier for people wanting to donate a turkey, Treasure Coast Food Bank has extended its hours for collecting them. Anyone wanting to help can drop off a frozen, uncooked turkey at Treasure Coast Food Banks headquarters, 401 Angle Road in Fort Pierce between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Treasure Coast Food Bank will be accepting donations between now and Tuesday, Nov. 22.

Throughout the month, Treasure Coast Food Bank and its partner agencies are distributing turkeys and holiday meal boxes to people who otherwise would not be able to share in a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

Treasure Coast Food Bank St Lucie Mets To Give Out Holiday Meals

Treasure Coast Food Bank looking for 500 turkey donations in time for Thanksgiving

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. The Treasure Coast Food Bank is teaming up with the St. Lucie Mets on Monday morning to distribute holiday meals.

The effort starts at 8 a.m. at Clover Park, and there’s enough food for roughly 750 families.

Each holiday meal box contains a turkey, along with canned veggies, fruits, mashed potato flakes and other holiday food items.

The Amazin’ Mets Foundation was able to help provide the food by giving the Treasure Coast Food Bank a donation.

Members of the Mets Organization will be at Clover Park with volunteers from the food bank. Together they’ll distribute the meal boxes until 11 a.m., or whenever the food runs out.

According to the latest reports from the Consumer Price Index, the cost of food overall has gone up 13% year over year. The price of turkeys is up a whopping 17%.

Treasure Coast Food Bank Kicks Off Holiday Season With Pack The House

St. Lucie County – Thursday October 27, 2022: Treasure Coast Food Bank will kick off holiday preparations again this year by packing 15,000 holiday meal boxes. The 8th Annual Pack the House takes place Friday and Saturday Oct. 28 and 29th with hundreds of volunteers packing round the clock.

Keeping with its annual tradition, Treasure Coast Food Bank kicks off the event at its Volunteer Sorting Facility on Friday, Oct. 28, with a ceremony with sponsors and local dignitaries. The first three-hour packing shift begins after the ceremony. Shifts continue throughout the day, with the final shift taking place Saturday morning. Each shift features a fun theme, such as a dance party, trivia contest, or Halloween costume contest, and all shifts include food generously donated from Treasure Coast restaurants.

Its one of several activities Treasure Coast Food Bank is planning to ensure that everyone can share in a traditional holiday meal this year as inflation continues to stress household budgets. There also is an upcoming holiday auction, turkey drive, and many volunteering opportunities.

Treasure Coast Food Bank Looking For Volunteers And Donations For Holiday Season

The Treasure Coast Food Bank is getting ready to serve up some help for the holidays with its annual Pack The House event which kicks off on Friday.

Now in its seventh year, the goal is to make sure families in need can enjoy a special Thanksgiving meal.

This year the food bank is stepping up its response to fight hunger. Volunteers intend to pack 17,000 boxes of food.

Treasure Coast Foodbank CEO, Judy Cruz says thousands of families are still behind and struggling to put food on the table even though people are back at work and assistance is available.

“It kind of reminds us back in 2008 2009 with the Great Recession and what happened at during those times that people were working but they just weren’t at that point where they could make it make ends meet make it over the hump that they needed to put food on their table, keep a roof over their heads and take care of their families.”

Each week the food bank serves about 250,000 families. Two years ago, before the pandemic they were averaging about 100,000.

Cruz says the goal is to make sure everyone has an opportunity to have a good meal on Thanksgivng despite the challenges they are facing.

If you’d like to help out this holiday season the food bank has several options to get involved.

Volunteers are welcomed to come out Friday and Saturday to the food banks packing facility. Its located at 813 South Kings Highway, just south of Orange Avenue in Fort Pierce.
