Thurston County Food Project
To date, CRANA residents have donated over $200,000 in food to the Thurston County Food Bank.
To participate, simply place food donations in a green bag on your front porch on the morning of a pick up date and a volunteer will come collect it. Dont have a green bag? and well get you one!
Want to participate even more? You can come meet your neighbors and sort out food at Pioneer Middle School on the pick up dates between 10am-12pm.
Thanks to the residents of CRANA, the April food drive brought in $5,620 worth of food! Combined with the other neighborhoods there was $10,904 worth of food donated on that day. Thank you to everyone who made that possible!
We need Neighborhood Coordinators. To be one, simply organize a few of your neighbors as participants, get bags from the Steering Committee and let your folks know of the pick up schedule, then pick up and deliver the bags on the day of collection. This takes less than one hour every two months and is a valuable and fun service.

Gna Asks Local Businesses To Sponsor Food Drives In Support Of Tc Foodbank & St Christophers
The following announcement comes from the Griffin Neirghborhood Association who is part of a local initiative to have regular, ongoing, rotating collections for the Thurston County Foodbank at Steamboat Island businesses.
We are once again encouraged, grateful, and impressed by Steamboat Islands commitment to love thy neighbor. Truly this is a wonderful community to belong to, said Fr. James in response to this initiative, to the GNAs active support, and to the participation of local businesses. Special thanks goes out to Lindy Vincent who was key for coordination on St. Christophers end.

We see this as a win/win for our community, says GNA Board member Becky Reavis. Folks have an opportunity to give back, and the sponsoring location has the opportunity for those bringing in donations to learn more about the local business.
In January and July, the Griffin Neighborhood Association hosts the collection drive at its events, the Annual Meeting and Community Picnic, respectively. Local postal carriers host a drive in May. Companion Cove has already signed on to host the drive in September. The Steamboat Animal Hospital has signed up for November.
That leaves just a few more months to be chosen by local businesses who agree to participate.

En asociación con el Banco de Comida del Condado de Thurston y la Iglesia Luterana del Good Shepherd, CIELO ofrece un banco de alimentos mensual a los miembros de nuestra comunidad el cuarto viernes de cada mes en Olympia. Nuestro banco ofrece varios artículos, que incluyen carne, productos enlatados, verduras, productos de higiene y más, sin costo para los miembros de nuestra comunidad.
Good Shepherd recoge artículos que no son alimentos, como papel higiénico, pañales, artículos de higiene personal y artículos de limpieza para muestras familias locales que lo necesitan. Community Connection: Thurston County Food Bank
Starting on Wednesday, January 20, Winter Market restaurant vendors HeyDay Café, Madelineâs Bavarian Wurst, Curry in a Hurry and Paella Pro will be donating meals from their menu to the Thurston County Food Bank. The Food Bank will distribute meals at their Thurston Avenue location on January 20.
The restaurants hope to continue donating meals every Wednesday while they have sufficient resources to participate. Other Market Vendors including
Johnson Berry Farm, San Francisco Street Bakery and many other farmers and vendors are regular donors. We are pleased to recognize the Thurston County Food Bank as one of our Community Partners.
