Cfbnj Food Pantry Hours
To get food from our mobile and on-site pantries run by our Egg Harbor Township location, clients must show proof of residence. Two forms are required: a state issued ID such as a drivers license, and a piece of mail with their name and address on it. A lease that lists all occupants is also accepted. To get food for school-aged children under 18, their school record with their name and address on it is accepted, and for children younger than school age, we will accept a birth certificate. In the event that parents are divorced, children can only be listed under one parent in our records.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey provides food, help and hope to those in need. While we meet the emergency need for food within our communities, we are working to promote a culture of health. We accomplish this through job training programs, partnering with local and state organizations to increase access to healthy food and working with communities to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. Join us on third Saturdays at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey in Hillside. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey facilitates a regional distribution network of critical food supplies to emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and feeding programs in more than half the counties of New Jersey. Volunteers ages 12 and up generally help sort and repackage food for distribution, but we never really know whats in store until we arrive. Space is limited and advance signups are required. Carpooling can be arranged as needed. Contact for more information.

The Southern Branch of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey is located in Egg Harbor Township and serves clients in Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties. Right off the Garden State Parkway, the Southern Branch offers on-location food pantry hours as well as a mobile pantry to help get food to hungry men, women, and children in more remote areas of South Jersey. We are also happy to pre-screen and help you apply for SNAP benefits .

Join The Cfbnj Care Crew
Community FoodBank of New Jersey in Hillside is launching a Volunteer Warehouse Ambassador program, known as the Care Crew. The Care Crew will be trained volunteers who will support CFBNJ staff to provide guidance, information, and gratitude to volunteer groups in the warehouse.
The Care Crew will assist in:
- Work with staff to greet and sign-in groups
- Provide an overview, if staff is unavailable
- Circulate among the group during the volunteer activity to answer questions about the project or the FoodBank
- Learn how to work various projects Food Sorting, Box building, and Pasta
- Have strong knowledge of FoodBank mission, priorities, and programs
- Thank volunteer groups at the end of the shift
Care Crew members will be asked to make a one-year commitment which will include an application, interview, orientation session, and commit to two volunteer shifts in Hillside per month. Candidates should have already completed two volunteer shifts at the Hillside warehouse before theyapply to join the Care Crew.

This is part of a series of field reports on how life has changed for New Jerseyans during the coronavirus outbreak.
Looking like something out of a Mad Max movie, the vintage forklift skitters across the loading area at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey in Hillside, all the while beeping a warning to get out of the way.
A dozen vehicles panel trucks, SUVs, U-Haul trucks, vans wait patiently in line outside to pick up food at the 285,000-square-foot food bank warehouse in Hillside. All the drivers are wearing face masks. Everyone who goes inside the warehouse must have their temperature tested, and wear masks and protective gloves.
These are challenging times for the food bank, the states largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization. It distributes food to 1,000-plus community partners: soup kitchens, food pantries, emergency shelters and child and senior feeding programs around the state.

Coronavirus News: Community Foodbank Of Nj Distributes Thousands Of Boxes Of Food
Anthony Johnson has more on a New Jersey food bank that distributed thousands of boxes of food at an event in Newark on Tuesday.
NEWARK, New Jersey The Community FoodBank of New Jersey hosted an Emergency Food Distribution Event in Newark Tuesday, held at Essex County Branch Brook Park, to help families impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Approximately 2,000 boxes of food were distributed to families who have been forced out of work and are not able to purchase food.
The coronavirus has forced an enormous amount of people out of work and created food insecurity among residents who now have limited income or no income at all, Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, Freeholder President Brendan Gill, and Vice President Wayne Richardson said in a joint statement. Essex County has a long relationship with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and we are pleased to partner with them to present this Emergency Food Distribution Event to help those who are in dire need. The coronavirus has created uncertainty and unforeseen challenges for us all. We hope this emergency food distribution helps those families who are struggling.
The event was set to held rain or shine, but luckily, the weather cooperated.
It was a drive-up distribution wherein volunteers placed one emergency food box into each vehicles trunk.
The emergency food boxes were prepared by the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and contain enough food to provide for 40 meals.

Hunger In Somerset County
- Somerset is one of the wealthiest counties in America, yet even here there are 17,000 individuals living below the poverty line , many of whom cannot count on having an adequate supply of food.
- Personal events such as job loss, death of a breadwinner, or long-term illness can suddenly plunge a family into becoming food-insecure.
- Global or regional disasters like a pandemic or catastrophic flooding, both of which have hit Somerset County in recent times, further increase the number of our neighbors facing hunger.
Accessing The Food Pantry
Visit the pantry located in the Community Center, 220 South 6th Ave, Highland Park, NJ on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 9:00am 10:45am and 6:00pm 7:00 pm and on the Saturdays of those weeks from 9:30am 10:30am.

About The Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon
Now a fall gathering, the Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon from the Community FoodBank of New Jersey brings public attention to many hunger-related issues and engages its anti-hunger advocates and supporters to take action so students and families can have food, help, and hope for equitable opportunities.
This year, for the first time ever, we will host a simultaneous event in South Jersey, as well, for supporters to join forces virtually with our Women Fighting Hunger champions in North Jersey. This event will feature food and a simulcast of the North Jersey event speakers.

We package food orders for local soup kitchens and food pantries we purchase and collect food for distribution help people in need through SNAP application assistance reach communities with limited resources with mobile pantries and encourage others to get involved. Last year, we distributed food for over 86 million meals , 34% of which was fresh produce. We address hunger as a health issue by providing more fruits and vegetables, nutrition education, and medical screenings to inspire positive lifestyles. Community members from all walks of life engage in our mission through volunteer opportunities resulting in over 27,000 volunteer visits last year-equivalent to the work of about 31 full-time employees.
CFBNJs mission is to fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need and seeking long-term solutions. We will engage, educate and empower all sectors of society in the battle.
