A Home Away From Home
As part of Frendels community involvement, we provided a kitchen for the Ronald McDonald House organisation in Hamilton. Their mission is To provide a warm, compassionate and safe home away from home for families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at our local childrens hospital.
Being part of and giving back to the communities that have supported Frendel Kitchens is an essential part of our business. To come together with a charity like Ronald McDonald House and help create the feeling of a home away from home for these families and their children is exciting. We are proud to donate this kitchen to the house to be used by the families to cook homemade meals for their children.

Parents Of Hospitalized Children Experience High Levels Of Stress & Anxiety
The StayClose study, conducted in the UK, found that almost two-thirds of parents, whose children were hospitalized for at least three days, had borderline/clinical levels of anxiety, and 38 percent of those experienced a similar level of anxiety three months after their childs discharge. While hospitals provide medical care, the Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home-away-from-home, which may help alleviate stress and anxiety, thereby improving their ability to participate in the care of their child receiving medical treatment. The Best Types Of Toys To Donate To Toys For Tots
While Toys for Tots does not print a list of suggested toys, it goes without saying that toys without batteries, toys that require add-ons, electronics, and anything that cant be enjoyed immediately after being unwrapped should be avoided. Also, avoid anything used, anything that resembles a realistic weapon, anything food-related, or anything containing chemicals.
All toys should be new and unwrapped. Books and homemade toys are also accepted. For age guidelines, check with your local drop-off location this can vary in different areas.
How To Have Your Toy Donations Picked Up

What is it?
At RMHC, Meals That Heal is the cornerstone of our House program, relying completely on people within the community to keep it up and running. As a Meals That Heal volunteer, you provide so much more than just food: you provide families with time to decompress with others after a tough day at the hospital, with the comfort and warmth of a home-cooked meal and conversation shared with families and members of the Omaha community. You provide them with extra support during some of their most challenging times.
Who volunteers?
Everyone can volunteer! Families, groups of friends, university and high school student groups, businesses, churches, and civic organizations alike volunteer to provide a meal for our families. We only ask that during flu season all volunteers be over the age of 18.
How does it work? What do we cook?
With our Meals That Heals program, volunteers have a couple of options to get involved:
Cook in Our Kitchen:Meals That Heal volunteers work as a group to plan menus, purchase ingredients and prepare meals in our Houses fully-equipped kitchen. ALL food must be prepared in our kitchen or brought directly from a commercial kitchen, except for prepared food from a grocery store. We are not able to serve par-baked or pre-prepared food.
