A Message From Stacy Dykstra Ceo Regional Food Bank:

Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma CEO describes need for help ahead of holidays
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for Oklahomans. In the past year we have seen an up to 30% increase in the need for food assistance,” said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. ” The pandemic has also greatly impacted the amount of food we receive from food drives, including the loss of a food drive that brings in more than 760,000 pounds of donated food each year.
We encourage Oklahomans to join us during this drive and help stock the shelves at food pantries in your community,” Dykstra said. We are so thankful to partner with Homeland to help provide nutritious food to our neighbors living with hunger.”

Help Us Pie Our Peers By Donating To The Regional Food Bank Of Oklahoma

In our final Tigerpalooza Assembly, we will be playing a version of musical chairs where those landing in unlucky seats will be pied by the four individuals from each grade with the greatest amount of donors. At Norman High, we reward hustle! The top four Royalty members who get the most people to donate to the Regional Foodbank of Oklahoma will get the opportunity to pie their peers at the end of the season.
Tigerpalooza began at Norman High School years ago as a Battle of the Bands to benefit Womens Cancer Research and it has grown every year since. Tigerpalooza chooses a deserving organization that benefits the Norman community. Through Tigerpalooza, Norman High Students plan events to raise money for the selected charity. What started as Battle of the Bands is now a full week of activities. Throughout the week, students, teachers, and the Norman community take part in fundraising events.
Tigerpalooza is getting behind the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma through our 2021 fundraising campaign. We feel we can make a real difference in the lives of the Norman Community. We respectfully ask for your participation in our campaign.

Regional Food Bank Of Oklahoma Seeking Partners For Summer Feeding Program

Brand New: New Logo for Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is seeking sites to provide meals to children 18 and under for its Summer Feeding Program. The organization expects to see a large decrease in both the number of sites participating in its Summer Feeding Program as well as the number of children served during summer 2022 due to renewed USDA requirements.

The Summer Feeding Program is partially funded through federal dollars managed by the USDA and distributed through the Oklahoma State Department of Education. These programs have federal requirements that must be met to receive funding. When the pandemic began in 2020, the USDA implemented waivers that allowed the Regional Food Banks Summer Feeding sites to offer alternative models of feeding children, such as grab-and-go meals and didnt require the meals to be consumed on-site. Those waivers will expire in late May, at the end of the 2021-22 school year.

Many sites who have participated over the past two years are not equipped to host congregate feeding due to lack of space, staff or funds, said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. The relaxed USDA requirements allowed the Regional Food Bank to reach so many more children who are in need of healthy meals during the summer months.

We strongly urge organizations interested in making a huge impact in their community to apply to become a Summer Feeding Program site, Dykstra said.
