Community Crisis Services is part of the 211 Maryland call center network and answers crisis calls for Prince Georges County. Located in Hyattsville, CCSI also offers several crisis response programs to support Prince Georges County and surrounding areas.
CCSI has an emergency shelter for domestic violence victims, coordinates shelter placements throughout Prince Georges County, and offers child protective services after-hours for child abuse and neglect reports.

Food Security Task Force
The Prince Georges County Council established the Prince Georges County Food Security Task Force, with adoption of Council Resolution CR-62-2020 and its report submission was extended by CR-70-2021, to address issues related to the demand and supply of healthy food, food health connections, school meals, and overall food security in Prince Georges County. The goal was to identify challenges and opportunities and provide recommendations for creating a healthy, equitable, and sustainable food system that ensures every Prince Georgian has access to nutritious, affordable, sustainably grown, safe and culturally appropriate food. Such issues have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on Prince Georges Countys residents, institutions and businesses.
The Prince George’s County Food Security Task Force built upon the work of the Food System Study initiated by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission . Two research projects were inspired by the study the 2015 Healthy Food for All Prince Georgians project assessment and the 2018 Healthy Food Policy Project published by “Prince George’s County Food Equity Council: Taking on Food Swamps through Policy Change”.

A New Option For Affordable Groceries Has Arrived In Maryland The Food Bank Is Thrilled To Announce The Expansion Of Its Curbside Groceries Initiative Into Prince Georges County
Curbside Groceries is a mobile grocery truck that visits at least three unique locations each week. Its goal is to create equitable access to nutritious food at affordable prices. As the food store that comes to you, Curbside serves residents in areas with few retail grocery options and provides a full market basket of items that include high-quality produce, meat, dairy, and fish, as well as shelf stable foods and personal care items.
Curbside Groceries first began its operations in DCs Ward 8 in January of 2020. Despite some temporary service interruptions due to the pandemic, Curbside DC has served more than 1,250 customers.
After over a year on the road and lots of learnings, Curbside was ready to expand into Prince Georges County, another area in our region where many residents are without easy access to a retail option that supplies nutritious and affordable food. Before the truck could get out on the road, the food bank worked with Prince Georges County Executive and the City Council to pass CB-028-2021, legislation that would allow the mobile grocery truck to operate in the county. After successful passage of the bill, Curbside Groceries in Prince Georges County was on its way to launch.
On July 29th, 2021, the food bank marked the initiatives expansion by gathering with several of the partners who have helped to make Curbside Prince Georges possible at the trucks first confirmed stop in the county The Shops at Iverson in Temple Hills.
