While steps can be taken to plan and prepare food carefully, sometimes leftovers and unused ingredients are inevitable. Food banks, pantries and meal sites can take some donations.Oregon consistently ranks among the top states in the nation for food insecurity – the inconsistent access to safe and nutritious food. By donating your surplus food you will feed people who experience hunger, preserve the resources that went into making the food and boost employee morale.
Food banks welcome whole ingredients or factory packaged items with ingredient lists. Other organizations and meal sites are able to take prepared foods produced by your kitchen. Food donations may also be tax-deductible under certain circumstances.
This guide to donating food can help businesses set up a successful donation program, learn about food safety, tax incentives and liability and know what foods can and cannot be donated.

Whether its a case of tuna or a truckload of vegetables, your donation is distributed throughout our network of food pantries and community meal sites to the tables of hungry families in Marion and Polk counties.

Our warehouse receiving hours are 9 AM 3 PM Monday through Saturday. If you are going to drop off a donation, please be mindful of a few guidelines:
For individual/personal donations: We accept canned food items no more than 4 years expired. Shelf stable dairy items must be no more than 1 year expired. We cannot accept anything already open . All items must be in clean, unopened condition.
If you are a business looking to donate food, or have unserved leftovers from an event, please see below for more guidelines. We schedule pickups for over 100 LBS of food to coordinate a pickup please email or call 226-8061, leave a voicemail and we will get back to you. Sunday donations are by appointment only. Produce For People Program
Portland Parks & Recreations Produce for People program, which sprouted in 1995 to combat Portlands high poverty rate, is a grassroots effort in which community gardeners turn their ability to produce food into an opportunity to fulfill the needs of the hungry. In concert with hunger relief agencies, the program seeks to provide Portlands emergency food shelters with fresh, nutritious, organic, locally grown food.
Produce for People, supported by amazing gardeners at 31 community garden sites, donated over 26,000 pounds of produce to more than 24 different food pantries in the 2018 garden season!

Bring your community together and donate food for neighbors facing food insecurity. Oregon Food Bank is no longer accepting individual food donations, but you can create a local food drive and donate food directly to the organizations providing meals in our community. Temporary Change In Food Delivery
AEFB Responds to COVID-19
Effective March 17th, AEFB will be open and distributing food using a box delivery model to maintain social distance. No clients will be allowed inside the building during this interim shift. All existing clients, and people newly needing support are welcome. We will have limited ability to provide for special dietary requirements or choice. Thank you for your understanding during this temporary change in service.

If You Need FoodTheSouth Corvallis Food Bank will remain open during its normal hours: Monday 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Wednesday 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Thursday 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noonWe are continuing to require all volunteers and clients to wear masks. We will stop requiring masks no later than when Oregon healthcare facilities stop requiring masks.
We have moved back inside! No more waiting outside in the rain and cold! When you get to the food bank, come on in! For the protection of our volunteers and other shoppers, please wear a mask while at the food bank. Masks are available free of charge at the check in table if you don’t have one.
After you have checked in, you will be invited in to shop with a volunteer. All volunteers have been vaccinated.
We are carefully following COVID numbers.
We have currently waived the limit of one full shop per month. You are welcome to come every other week for a full selection of food. On the in-between weeks, you may visit for a selection of fresh produce, bread and a few shelf-stable basics.
When possible, we ask that you leave most household members at home and only one person come to the food bank to pick up your food.

Organizations That Accept Food Donations
What types of organizations accept food and what do they accept?The kind of food items you have to donate will determine what type of agency to work with. Please note that some agencies help their clients with food in multiple ways. Some general guidelines for organizations include:
- Food Bank/Pantry: The service offered usually mirrors a shopping-style experience that allows clients to pick and choose items that are shelf-stable, fresh or frozen from each category of food.
- Meal Site: This service tends to consist of a hot meal, dessert and a beverage.
- Emergency/Supplemental Food Box: This is a prepacked bag or box of food that consists of pantry staples and shelf-stable items that can be supplemented with fresh and frozen items.

FOOD For Lane County relies on donations of food from a variety of local, statewide and national sources. More than half of the food we distribute annually comes from local donors including individuals, farms, food drives, restaurants, retail and wholesale grocers and businesses.
We are committed to collecting and distributing as many healthy foods as possible. We work hard to solicit foods that meet people nutritional needs. FOOD For Lane County is also committed to providing culturally appropriate food to the people we serve.

Food Recovery Fresh Alliance
We are part of a community partnership with local grocery stores to reclaim high quality product. We make daily pick-ups from Roths Family Market, Winco, Fred Meyer, Albertsons, and Safeway. No One Should Go Hungry
ACCESS provides food to more than 30 emergency food pantries throughout Jackson County. These pantries provide a variety of fresh and shelf-stable groceries for low-income families and individuals. Each food box contains a 3-5 day supply of meals. Before visiting food pantries, please check below for updates to operating hours.

What We Do
Linn Benton Food Share provides millions of pounds of food every year to our local community through a network of 68 non profit partners. These include food pantries, meal sites, gleaning groups and supplemental agencies. If you are in need of food or would like to help your neighbor, this is the place to start.

Food Donations From Individuals:
We are so grateful for community membersgenerosity and desire to help. FFLC can accept food donations at our 770 Bailey Hill Road location, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.Please call ahead at 541-343-2822 if you are donating a large volume of food. Peanut butter, tuna, canned vegetables, canned stews, soups and chili are among the most-needed foods.
Due to time/temperature and cold chain regulations we are unable to accept frozen foods, dairy and meats. Please consider donating funds and wel purchase frozen protein items with food safety best practices in mind.
Home Garden Produce Donations:
Drop produce off at FFLC West Broadway Warehouse, at 2345 West Broadway, Monday through Thursday between Noon and 3 p.m. We will gladly accept any non-damaged, non-wormy, non-ground fall, normal sized fruits or vegetables.
Please wash your hands, and consider wearing masks and gloves when harvesting to promote COVID-19 safety best practices. Pre-bagged leafy produce is best, but wel take it either way. Please use sanitized and clean containers for harvesting and delivery.
Upon arriving at our West Broadway warehouse, please go through the doors labeled artner Agency Entranceand ring doorbell for assistance. An FFLC staff member will take your donation, and give you a receipt if you want one. Thank you!

How You Can Support Us
Volunteer!In addition to many volunteer opportunities at local soup kitchens and food pantries, LBFS needs volunteers to help with food repackaging at our warehouse, host or participate in a food drive/fundraiser, help with special events, and more!
Donate!The most effective way to help in the fight against hunger is to donate money. For every dollar donated, LBFS can provide the equivalent of 6 meals to individuals and families in need.

Where To Bring Donations

We are a volunteer managed organization and each month we offer many hours where donations can be dropped off to our pantry. Please bring food donations to the west side of the building during open pantry hours .
We also have a drop box out front so you can drop off anytime that is convenient to you!
Pantry guest shopping and donation drop off hours are:
- 9 am to 11 am every TUESDAY and
- 9 am to 11 am every FIRST Saturday of the month and
- 4 pm to 6 pm on the SECOND and LAST THURSDAY of every month .
We are also open for donations every Saturday of each month, 10 to 11 am. We have volunteers ready to help you unload your donations. These options works well if you have a large amount to donate, but you are always welcome to come visit the Pantry that day!

What We Need
We welcome wholesome, edible food including fresh produce, unserved leftovers from events, and food which has passed its best by date but is still good. Before donating to food insecure families, please consider if you would eat the food yourself as a general rule of thumb. Please see below for detailed instructions about out of date food. Food comes to us for a whole host of reasons because of overstocked orders and broken delivery boxes, discontinued product lines or holiday inventory the week after the big day has passed.
