Do Partner Agencies Pay For The Food Received From Ntfb
When a nonprofit organization joins the NTFB as a Partner Agency, they become our partner in hunger relief and getting both donated and purchased foods to the families and individuals who need them. Prior to COVID-19, Partner Agencies shared in the cost of handling this food by contributing a per-pound handling fee with the exception of perishable items such as fresh vegetables. Due to the increased demand for our Feeding Network, NTFB has waived all handling fees to ensure our partners can meet the need in the months ahead.
Benefits Of Monthly Giving
- It provides a reliable source of funding, which allows NTFB to respond to the immediate needs of the community.
- With an automatic monthly donation online, your gifts will be processed quickly, allowing more nutritious foods to be available sooner to our neighbors facing hunger.
- Fight hunger all year long. You will help us work towards a hunger-free, healthy North Texas.

North Texas Food Bank Receives $10 Million+ Donation From The Perot Family
NORTH TEXAS The North Texas Food Bank just got a lot of help with their efforts to feed the hungry. The food bank received a $10.5 million donation from the Perot family.
A portion of the money is earmarked to support the food banks annual operating expenses, but the majority of the money is going to the Feeding North Texas Foundation which works with a network of partner agencies that help feed the hungry across North Texas.
The pandemic both exposed and amplified food insecurity in our region. So, in response to that the North Texas Food Bank launched the Nourish North Texas Vision. It not only provides food for today but hope for tomorrow to reduce some of the barriers for food access, explained NTFB Chief External Affairs Officer Erica Yaeger. The Perots generous gift of $10.5 million will fund an endowment so we can ensure, that regardless of the economic landscape, that were able to provide access to food for those who need it but its also to help cover the increased costs right now due to the elevated need.

Inside The North Texas Food Banks Thanksgiving Operation
During any given shift, of which there are two a day, about 1,500 boxes are packed with shelf-stable food items at the North Texas Food Bank. Each box generally weighs about 25 pounds. At 1.2 pounds per meal, that means one volunteer shift will produce about 32,000 meals. For Thanksgiving, though, the boxes are packed with up to 45 pounds. Last November, the nonprofit distributed 11.8 million meals. Volunteers really are the hearts and hands of our organization because they provide a value, says Kim Morris, director of community partner relations. Thats funding that were able to save to procure turkeys, for example, instead of having to pay resources to pack boxes.
Most Americans start shopping for Thanksgiving meals about a week or two before the feasting begins. Sometimes that means running to the nearest grocery store to find a pecan pie with a perfectly golden crust or waiting in lines that snake through the aisles while carrying cans up to your chin. But if youre aiming to prepare, say, thousands of meals, a few trips to the grocery store arent going to cut it.
NTFB budgets about $300,000 for the protein, which covers the cost of 13,000 turkeys. About 750 will be used for the organizations November distribution, and the rest will go to partner agencies in North Texas. Once the turkeys have been secured, Readhimer spends the rest of the year sourcing other food items such as grains and canned fruits and vegetables through other channels.

Ticf Donates $10000 To The North Texas Food Bank
Toyota Industries Commercial Finance, Inc. is proud to support the North Texas Food Banks fight against food insecurities through associate volunteer hours and financial support. NTFB corporate volunteer opportunities have allowed TICF associates to foster team and relationship building at the distribution center. The volunteer opportunities are planned by associates and involve individuals across the organization.
NTFB provided an easy-to-use volunteer portal which helped me to organize our volunteer event and bring together associates from across the organization. It felt great to work together and give out boxes of food and fresh produce to those in need in our community.
On August 23, 2022, TICF donated $10,000 to the North Texas Food Bank. This donation goes toward NTFBs Nourish North Texas Campaign. The campaign has a goal of raising $500 million in funds and the donated food required for the North Texas Food Bank to serve the current needs in our community. For every $1 donated to the NTFB, three nutritious meals are provided to our neighbors. TICFs donation provides access to 30,000 meals for families in need. To celebrate the donation, CEO Mark Taggart alongside TICF associates presented the check to the North Texas Food Bank before working a volunteer shift in the distribution center.
The North Texas Food Bank
While holiday food drives and other seasonal events are an important role in the food banks outreach efforts, we dont wait for the holidays to help those in need. From two dedicated fields that Farmer Ross cultivates to five gardening plots designated for homeowners to manage, we regularly share fresh produce with the North Texas Food Bank. In addition, canned goods are often the price of admission for Harvest events, and neighborhood scavenger hunts give our kids a chance to have fun while collecting canned goods. We also raise financial contributions through such events as our Run Now, Gobble Later turkey trot event, making the most of every dollar by making our donations on #GivingTuesday to secure matching funds.

About Nourish North Texas
Nourish North Texas is a comprehensive campaign that significantly expands our ability to provide hungry neighbors with more food for today while providing hope for tomorrow by addressing the root causes of food insecurity. The campaign is grounded in a new strategic plan for how we fight hunger in North Texas.
With a goal of raising $500 million in food and funds by the end of FY23, Nourish North Texas will allow the NTFB to execute its strategic plan funding critical operations and the growth of its Feeding Network of partner agencies more than 200 local food pantries and other organizations across the NTFBs 13-county service area. It will also support new, innovative partnerships and programs that address root causes of hunger and help move families toward long-term food security and economic stability.
The COVID-19 pandemic reversed the last decades progress toward closing the hunger gap. According to Feeding America, 42 million people across the nation including more than 700,000 of our neighbors here in North Texas may face hunger due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic. This figure represents a 55 percent increase in the number of people seeking help from food banks as compared to previous years.

Founded in 1982, the North Texas Food Bank began after four Dallas women vowed to fight hunger. In fact, it donated over 400,000 pounds of food in its first year. Now it donates millions of meals annually, and every dollar donated provides three healthy meals to those in need. One of the volunteer opportunities also includes working in the distribution center. Duties include packing and sorting, and you can donate your time Tuesday through Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
