What Is A Food Bank And How Do They Work

Food Bank

People in need may get free, nutritious canned and dry food from food banks. Health and social service providers identify people in need and provide them with a voucher for the food bank in their area. Beneficiaries may get three days worth of non-perishable food with this. As a result of other issues, such as the rise in period poverty, food banks accept and provide contributions for toiletries.

All food banks now depend on donations from both public and private individuals and institutions, collected from locations like supermarkets, schools, and companies.

Households in England and Wales don’t need to apply to get the cash and they’ll automatically qualify if they are receiving certain benefits.

You can read more about who’s eligible here.

There are also plenty of energy grants and schemes open to help you out if you’re struggling.
