Giant Eagle is committed to the communities in which we live and work. If your organization falls within one of our key areas of support, please submit your online donation request.

Please be prepared to include your organizations 501 letter and W-9. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

While we do our best to support a wide array of community initiatives, it is not possible for us to fulfill all requests we receive. Please also recognize that Giant Eagle does not support organizations that advocate, support, or practice activities inconsistent with the companys non-discrimination policies, whether based on race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, ethnicity, religion, disability or other protected characteristics.

Companies Volunteer To Help Hungry Marylanders

Giant Food is partnering with Kellogg’s Company to support Marylanders in need. Giant Food will deliver a truck full of cereals from Kellogg’s to the Maryland Food Bank in Baltimore, and both companies are donating $10,000 each to the food bank, for a total of $20,000. Representatives from both companies will then volunteer to sort and pack food for distribution through MFB’s statewide network of community partners.

The donation of food and funds are being made as part of Giant Food’s “Lend a Hand for Hunger” program and their commitment to eliminate hunger and change children’s lives, as well as Kellogg’s Better Days Promise, its global environment, social, and governance strategy to advance sustainable and equitable access to food and create better days for three billion people by the end of 2030.

The donation and press conference will take place Wednesday, October 19, at 9:30 a.m, at 2200 Halethorpe Farms Rd., Baltimore, MD, 21227. Attendees will include:

Giant Food And Shady Brook Farms Partners To Donate Turkeys

BALTIMORE Giant Food and Shady Brook Farms partnered to donate 1,000 turkeys to the Maryland food bank on Tuesday morning.

Associates from both Giant and Shady Brook Farms joined Maryland Food Bank representatives at a Giant store in Baltimore.

The donation is part of Giant and Shady Brook Farms contributions to five local Feeding America food banks, as well as local charitable organizations and food pantries for a total of 10,000 turkeys to help alleviate hunger across the Mid-Atlantic region.

The turkey donation is in conjunction with Giants Lend A Hand for Hunger Campaign, which raises money for Giants Feeding America food bank partners. Capital Area Food Bank, Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, Food Bank of Delaware, Manna Food Center, Marthas Table, Greater Baltimore Urban League, Greater Washington Urban League, and additional local food pantries will each receive turkeys from Giant Food.

We’re excited to offer local charities and partners the opportunity to host drives at various Festival Foods locations across the state. While we often work with local Food for Neighbors and Paw Away Hunger partners for these initiatives, there are also opportunities for other collections to be considered. Learn more about availability and opportunities here.

  • In support of our communities Festival Foods allows strategically scheduled access to our Cart Lobby area for charitable drives by non-profit groups.
  • We do not allow any sales to take place
  • Approval is based on availability for stores â other exclusions may apply.
  • We typically recommend these drives are no longer than two weeks, but this may vary. A community involvement coordinator will work with you on optimizing your drive.
  • Please note that we receive many requests for in-store drives, and requests made 30-60 days in advance are appreciated.

    Giant Food Community Bag Program To Support Cheer

    The CHEER Senior Foundation has been selected by Giant Food store leadership as the benefiting non-profit in its Community Bag Program. For the month of November, the CHEER Senior Foundation will receive a $1 donation from each purchase of the $2.50 reusable Community Bag at the Giant Food store located at 25939 John J. Williams Highway, Long Neck.

    The program is designed to make it easy for shoppers to give back to their local community while supporting the environment. Each time a shopper purchases the $2.50 Community Bag with the Giving Tag, they will have the power to direct a $1 donation to a local non-profit of their choice within seven days of their purchase.

    If the customer does not direct the donation within seven days, it will automatically be donated to the non-profit that each stores leadership has selected for the month CHEER during November 2021.

    The CHEER program serves senior citizens in Sussex County through a wide array of programs, including nutrition , transportation, activity centers, adult day care, Memory Café, home personal assistance, volunteer opportunities and hospitality venues. Its mission is To promote and maintain the highest quality of life and independence with programs that meet the needs of mature adults 50 and over, and enable them to remain in their homes.

    The Whole Foods Market Community Giving program is led by a network of our team members across the company who are empowered to address the needs within their local communities. We provide financial support for specific programs and initiatives led by community-based organizations. We do not provide gift card donations or in-kind donations.

    • We donate to registered US 501 non-profit organizations, Registered Canadian Charitable Organizations, and UK Charitable Incorporated Organizations. All applicants must be able to demonstrate verified non-profit status.

    • Donations must be designated to non-profit program support in communities that surround our stores and align with Whole Foods Markets Core Values.

    • Due to the high volume of inquiries we receive, its not possible to fulfill every request.

    We do not donate to:

    • For-profit businesses

    • Organizations that discriminate toward any racial, ethnic or cultural group

    Recipient charities and organizations of Whole Foods Market donations shall abide by these guidelines in order to remain a qualifying recipient:

    Priority consideration will be given to organizations that have not received another sponsorship or donation within the calendar year. Funding from a Whole Foods Market Foundation- Whole Kids, Whole Planet, or Whole Cities, is not disqualifying.

    Our system will not allow for the same request to be submitted to different locations.

    Ready To Submit An Organization

    If you would like to submit an organization for consideration in the Giant Food Community Bag Program, Giving Tag Program or Bloomin 4 Good Program, please review the guidelines and complete the form below.

    Approval does not guarantee selection at the store level.

    If approved, your organization will be placed on a list for local store leadership to consider for selection in future months. If chosen, your organization will be notified directly about one month prior to the start of the benefiting month.

    Upon approval, however, your organization can promote the Giving Tag Program to supporters at any time throughout the year.

    To qualify for consideration, benefiting organizations must have:

    • A direct local connection to a specific Giant Food store.
    • The commitment to put funds to use within the local Giant Food stores community.
    • Clear focus in stated mission to impact hunger relief, education , health & wellness and civic or military/veterans organizations.
    • Passionate in their desire to connect to the local community.

    The grocery chain is giving shoppers the chance to round up their shopping bill to the nearest dollar to help support the non-profit, which helps feed Americans struggling with food insecurity across the US.

    Washington, DC regional grocery chain Giant Food is once again running its annual Lend a Hand for Hunger campaign to benefit five Feeding America food banks Capital Area Food Bank, Maryland Food Bank, Food Bank of Delaware, Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank and Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

    The campaign, running from October 29 to November 25 in all 164 Giant stores, provides customers an opportunity to support their neighbours by rounding up their change to the nearest dollar amount or selecting a donation amount of $1, $3 or $5 during checkout. Giant Food will also donate 6,000 Natures Promise turkeys to the food banks that will assist in feeding over 72,000 individuals across its communities this holiday season.

    Helping those in need within our communities is a longstanding commitment at Giant and each year we look forward to this program to support our food bank partners and our neighbours they serve, said Ira Kress, President of Giant Food.

    Giant Food Begins Program Supporting Local Food Banks

    Landover, Maryland-based Giant Food has begun its annual Lend a Hand for Hunger campaign to benefit five area Feeding America food banks Capital Area Food Bank, Maryland Food Bank, Food Bank of Delaware, Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank and Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and other area nonprofits.

    The campaign, running through Dec. 31 in all Giant stores, offers customers to round up their bills to the nearest dollar amount during checkout in-store or selecting a donation of $1, $3 or $5 during checkout in-store or online. The programs goal is to raise more than $1 million to support the fight against hunger.

    We realize many of our neighbors are facing tough choices when it comes to their food dollars, and, as in years past, we want to do our part to make sure our neighbors in need enjoy their holiday celebrations with a traditional turkey meal, said Ira Kress, president.

    We are thrilled to partner with Shady Book Farms to nearly double our annual turkey donation program and are grateful to be able to extend our support to even more families.
