San Diego Rescue Mission
The San Diego Rescue Mission is another donation location that helps the homeless in San Diego by selling used stuff and using the profits in many crucial, helpful, and kind ways. You can donate things there and donate your time as a volunteer, so if you dont have the stuff to donate but want to help, keep that in mind. They always need volunteers for their many activities. Like most donation centers, they take a wide variety of things but gently used clothing, and household goods are the most helpful. They also accept donations of cars, vans, and other vehicles and, in San Diego county, will come and pick them up right at your door. Its a great place to donate clothes in San Diego.

Featured Partner: Neurocrine Biosciences
Entering July of 2020, Father Joes Villages faced the challenge of adjusting and increasing services during the summer months when donations to Father Joes Villages are typically leaner. Thats when Neurocrine Biosciences stepped in to offer a $200,000 Matching Gift Challenge to fund critical services like health care, meals, shelter and more. Neurocrine Biosciences, a neuroscience-focused, biopharmaceutical company in San Diego, wanted to amplify their impact at a time when neighbors experiencing homelessness needed it most.
Together we can make a difference and help fulfill the mission of Father Joes Villages to elevate people out of homelessness and poverty, said Kevin C. Gorman, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer at Neurocrine Biosciences, upon the campaign launch.
Because of the generosity of Neurocrine Biosciences, Father Joes Villages was able to raise over $435,000 for our COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, which helped to continue and adjust safe, supportive services for neighbors most vulnerable in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vons Donates 41 Million Pounds Of Food To San Diego Food Bank
Will McHenry, director of food procurement & distribution for the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, sits near an internal window overlooking the organizations vast warehouse in central San Diego.
McHenry recollects the genesis of the Food Banks relationship with Vons, part of the Safeway family of supermarkets. We established a formal partnership with Vons in 2007 right before the recession hit, says McHenry. It couldnt have been better timing because Vons has been one of our biggest supporters over the past five years, during a period of severely heightened need in our community.
Since 2007, Vons has donated 3.2 million pounds of food to the Food Bank and collected nearly 900,000 pounds more through in-store food drives. In total, Vons is responsible for donating more than 4.1 million pounds of food to the Food Bank which is currently feeding, on average, more than 350,000 people per month in communities throughout San Diego County.
They donate top quality food which happens to be near the expiration date or is in packaging that has cosmetic damage and cant be sold, continues McHenry. We are very grateful for the partnership. Vons has helped us feed thousands and thousands of people every month.
