The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is a federally run program that helps obtain badly needed food for low-income people and families. SNAP program is also known as Food Stamp.
SNAP benefits in Pinellas supplied approximately 40 million Americans in 2018. It is the most extensive nutrition program administered by Food and Nutrition Service and is a vital component of the social safety net for low-income Americans.

The Adult Rehabilitation Center is a six-month residential substance abuse program, which houses up to 138 mostly indigent men at no cost to them.
The Adult Rehabilitation Center is a six-month residential substance abuse program, which houses up to 104 mostly indigent men at no cost to them. They are provided with nutritious meals and clean housing in a stable environment. These men receive the benefit of group therapy, guidance and skilled spiritual counseling in a work therapy type program.
As part of their job training they learn trades such as furniture refinishing, appliance and computer repair, through the processing and repair of donated items, such as clothing, furniture, appliances and bric-a-brac. The renovated items are sold to the public through the Armys thrift stores, with the profits used to maintain the center and its programs.
The ARC is the only department of The Salvation Army that is totally financially self-generating.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. â As inflation continues to hit Americans with an intensity not felt since the late 1970s, the St. Petersburg Free Clinic is stepping up to meet that challenge by providing food resources for those in need in Pinellas County by expanding its locations, hours and drive-through options.
Last week, the organization reopened its indoor food pantry at their downtown headquarters, while also opening two new drive-in locations where motorists can pull up and get free fresh produce and other food staples.
What You Need To Know

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the food at home price index has increased by 11.9 % over the past 12 months, the largest increase since 1979, leading to a demand for food pantries around the country.
The SPFC shut down its indoor Fresh Choice Pantry when COVID-19 emerged in the spring of 2020 and moved to a drive through system to ensure public safety as well an added spike in demand. Now they have resumed operations back in house with two new drive-in locations to serve the public.
Besides their food pantries, the SPFC also offers programs in health and dental care, as well as providing transitional housing for men and women experiencing homelessness and recovering from substance abuse.

Red Shield Lodge Homeless Shelter / Community Kitchen
The Salvation Army Red Shield Lodge serves men, women and children in a 110 bed emergency shelter. Each day The Salvation Army serves nearly more than 200 meals a day to individuals and families in need of lunch and dinner.
Stock our Shelves: Volunteer to organize, sort and fill grocery bags for individuals and families in need of food assistance.

Majors Chris and Sandy Flanagan currently serve as the Area Commanders over The Salvation Army of Greater St. Petersburg. Together they commissioned as officers and ordained ministers from The Salvation Army’s Evangeline Booth College and have been serving for 40 years. This includes several field appointments and various positions at headquarters. The Flanagan’s have two adult children and three grandchildren.

Every Child Needs A Family Every Community Needs Its Children
We are currently accepting applications for Foster Parents either single or couples – who are already licensed, those that need to renew their license, or new applicants that need to complete the training process, which will be provided by us.
As a Foster Parent, you would reside in on of our Childrens Village homes rent free, paying only a portion of necessary utilities. Each home is approximately 4,400 square feet, including a 2-car garage, screened in back porch, 5 bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms. The Salvation Army provides maintenance to the homes, lawn care services, pest control, and all property upkeep and repairs. The homes are licensed for up to 6 dependent children. Foster Parents are expected to maintain a minimum of 4 foster children in their home. Foster Parents will receive the allowable monthly board rate per child, directly from the Community Based Care .
