What Is The Difference Between A Food Bank And A Food Pantry

Tulsa OK Food Pantries

Independent community food pantries are self-governing and usually distribute food to their clients on a once-a-month basis. A food bank is the storehouse for millions of pounds of food and other products that go out to the community. A food pantry functions as the arms that reach out to that community directly.

How We Feed Thousands Of Families In Need

Step 1 | Relationships

We have been feeding the families of Eastern Oklahoma since 1981. Since then we have built lasting relationships with farmers, retailers, and other members of the community. We provide at least 4 meals for $1. Your dollar goes further because we leverage our relationships, and 97% of it goes directly towards hunger relief.

Step 2 | Nutritious Meals

We pride ourselves on being able to provide a healthy mix of shelf-stable groceries, fresh produce, and hot meals. Last year, 45% of distributed foods were fresh produce. Our goal is to get as many fresh fruits and vegetables to people as possible.

Step 3 | Distribution

We serve 24 counties across eastern Oklahoma by providing food to nearly 400 partner pantries at little or no cost. Our community has been projected by the USDA to become the nation’s most food-insecure area for children, so the 28 million pounds of food we deliver annually are necessary to end hunger in Oklahoma.
