We are still getting nine trucks a week from the North Texas Food Bank. Thats 400,000 pounds every week into this facility that we are distributing out, Wadkins Chambers said.
Crossroads is located in the Redbird area of the southern sector of Dallas and serves 18 zip codes through our in-house pantry. Additionally, Crossroads is the food distribution hub to 140+ partners agencies and distributes food through the agencies to food insecure communities in Dallas, Ellis and Navarro counties.

Our impact in our community has been raising awareness of high blood pressure & diabetes, lowering the stigma regarding mantel health, and providing healthy food.

Our 3 mobile community pantries and refrigerated box truck travel through the nine counties of the Diocese of Dallas to bring fresh food to those in need.
Who is eligible?
- Families receiving government benefits such as SNAP, TANF, SSI, NSLP, Medicare and Medicaid. NO PROOF IS REQUIRED.
- Families who fall under the Federal Poverty Guidelines become eligible to receive food services. NO PROOF IS REQUIRED.
- Families facing a temporary crisis due to natural disasters and homelessness automatically become eligible to receive services.

University Of Texas Representatives Volunteer At East Texas Food Bank
TYLER, Texas – 90 representatives from the University of Texas, both local and statewide, spent the morning volunteering at the East Texas Food Bank as part of the Supply Chain Alliance Conference, held in-person for the first time since the pandemic.
Volunteers prepared boxes for the Senior Box Program and bags for kids in afterschool programs. This is part of the systems initiative to leave the city better than when they arrived.
We worked with our colleagues at UT Tyler. This is a tradition that were trying to continue, that is working a community event. In the past, weve done some community events in El Paso, said Associate Vice Chancellor for Collaborative Business Services Richard St. Onge. He said this is their 16th year in operation.
The alliance puts master agreements in place where we leverage the collective size and strength of the UT System to get better pricing than any one individual institution can do on their own, St. Onge said.
Dennis Cullinane, the CEO of the East Texas Food Bank, said this is a larger group of volunteers to have in their space.
Were really excited that they came out, especially when we need volunteers the most, as we head into the holidays. A lot of seniors to feed, a lot of childrens meals need to be boxed up and packaged up, Cullinane said.

Inflation is pushing more North Texas residents to seek help from food banks to feed their families.
Juani Lara, 45, is one of the hundreds of people that lined up early Friday to pick up free food baskets at the North Texas Food Bank drive-through event at the University of North Texas campus in Dallas.
Although gas prices are going down, Lara said, rising prices on food essentials are leaving her short.
We are struggling because, easily, youd spend $150 on just a few things and not all that youd need, said Lara, who returned to a food distribution event for the first time in a year.
Nationally, the number of families returning to food banks has increased as a result of 40-year inflation, reported The Associated Press
Jeff Smith, communications manager for NTFB, said the impact of inflation is evident in many North Texas families. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this organization averaged about 11 million meals per month, and just this May that number increased to 13 million.
On Friday, families waited in line for up to two hours to receive their meals. The line of cars reached Interstate 20, about 1.3 miles long. According to a UNTD campus police officer at the site, there were about 75 vehicles in line around 10 a.m.
Right now everything is very expensive, so thats why you look for and they told me that they were giving it out here, Savala said as he sat in his car.
