Central California Food Bank is joining Feeding America, the nations largest hunger-relief network of 200 food banks, 21 statewide associations and 60,000 partner food pantries and meal programs, to collect input from people who need food assistance to inform the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health in September 2022. Our goal is to create solutions with the community to be shared with the White House, which has set a goal to end hunger by 2030.

We Fight Hunger In The North
The Whitehorse Food Bank is a community-based organization that provides emergency food to people in need. We provide emergency food hampers to as many as 1900 people a month.
We are generously supported by many individuals, families, schools, churches, businesses and other organizations throughout the year.
Together, we all help feed hungry people in our community.
How To Visit The Food Banks
When you visit our food banks you will be checked-in by a greeter, who will scan your North Helpline card. If you do not have a card yet, they will direct you to a registration table where you can get a card. You will not need an ID to complete registration. Everyone will be strongly encouraged to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from others. At this time, only staff and volunteers are allowed to enter the building at either location.
At this time, visits are not limited per week. If you require a No-Cook option, you will have the opportunity to request that.
In Lake City, there will be a designated volunteer or staff member handing out numbers. Once your number is called, you will be able to walk through the line to pick your food.
In Bitter Lake, there are no numbers, and we ask that you wait in line to walk through and select your food.
Bitter Lake Food Banks entrance is on the sidewalk on the small street that cuts through to the alley just east of Linden Ave North. The Food Bank is located on the ground floor of the SHAG building there.
In Lake City, the entrance to North Helpline Food Bank is at the south end of the building, at the driveways top. Clients walk down a short breezeway to the rear parking lot.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during these process changes as we do our best to keep our community, volunteers, and staff healthy. We are looking forward to returning to our normal services soon.

The Need For Nutritious Food Grows: Nonprofit Agencies Serving Larger Populations In The Face Of The Covid
VICTORIA, BC The COVID-19 crisis is amplifying the need for access to basic needs, such as food, health care, and shelter throughout the region. Many individuals have lost their jobs, as their places of employment have closed, and many business owners are struggling to make ends meet without their usual revenue. As a result, many more people and families dont have the resources they need to meet their basic needs.
Non-profit agencies across the region are taking action to get the supports to people who need them.
People struggling in poverty know that Our Place is a safety net that will serve three meals a day to anyone who needs to eat, said Grant McKenzie of Our Place. The demand for food has definitely increased, and we are currently serving an extra 300 meals per day. Due to the pandemic, all 1,400 meals are being served at the gates of 919 Pandora.
However, not everyone knows how to access the available resources, or even that these resources are available. A number of partner agencies are working together to develop and distribute Community Resource Guides with information on how to access services related to food, health care, counselling, shelter and other services.
As a network of organizations focused on food security, the Food Share Network wants families, individuals, and the community to know that there are a number of different avenues available to access food resources.

Food Bank Days Of Service
The Food Bank has expanded its Fresh Food Share pantry days of operation in Fort Collins and Loveland.
- The Blue Spruce Dr. pantry in Fort Collins and the Lincoln Ave. pantry in Loveland now operate Tuesday through Saturday.
- The daily hours of operation remain 10am-3pm at both locations.
- Safe and contactless food distribution will continue via a drive-up model.
- Face coverings are required for staff, volunteers and clients while at the Food Bank.
The Food Bank has expanded the days of operation at its two pantries so clients can more easily access services. The change to a Tuesday through Saturday schedule means those clients who work during the week will be able to shop on Saturday at either pantry. This change nearly doubles the current COVID-19 service hours at the Food Banks pantries.
Seniors can access Commodities Supplemental Food Program boxes during the same Tuesday through Saturday schedule, from 10am-3pm.
For more information on pantry locations and hours of operation, visit our Where Do I Go? page.

As more people in Scarborough are forced to turn to food banks, the food banks are changing.
Feed Scarboroughs latest location, in East Scarboroughs West Hill area, is open eight hours a day from Tuesday to Saturday to help people who are working but also want to use their services.
Many in Scarborough today are low-income earners whose after-tax family income falls below the low-income threshold and are unable to pick up groceries during a two- or three-hour window in the middle of the day, when many food banks open, Suman Roy, Feed Scarboroughs executive director, said as what the group calls its Rouge Park space opened last month.
One thing were seeing over and over is community members who have a job or even two but cant seem to put food on the table, Suman Roy said.
The location in Maystone Plaza at 4630 Kingston Rd. will be home to Feed Scarborough’s Business Incubation Program, also known as StartUp Scarborough, in which people can book spaces, watch webinars and meet with advisers and peers to bring their business ideas to life in Scarborough.
Last months opening ceremony in West Hill also featured an appearance by a raccoon mascot designed by two young artists, Austin Paparousis and Hazel Kuzell.

An Important Message To Our Guests
We are open on Saturdays from 9:00am 10:30am for drive-through food distribution!
Open Hands Food Pantry will be open on Saturday mornings for the near future to serve guests. We have arrived at a plan for food distribution that will keep our guests and volunteers safe. Food distribution includes shelf stable groceries, fresh meat, and toiletries. Most often, we also have fresh vegetables and fruit available to distribute. Some additional personal items such as diapers and feminine hygiene products are distributed when available.
We are open at 9:00am and the distribution is a drive-through method. Enter the parking lot from 11 Mile. Cars will make several stops and then will be directed to the front of the church. Volunteers will place bags in the trunk of your vehicle. Guests must remain in their vehicle through the entire process to maintain social distancing. We suggest that guests arrive with an empty trunk to ensure proper storage space. We also ask that guests and volunteers wear masks.
To those without access to a vehicle, you are welcome to walk up, while maintaining six feet of social distance.
We plan to be open on Saturdays only for the near future.

Foodbank Open On Saturday Needs You Save To Favorites
There aren’t many food banks open on Saturday. Until now. This local foodbank has decided to open on Saturday, from 9:00am to 12:30, for clients who work during the week but can’t make it in. Many of our neighbors fall into a category like this. They have jobs but don’t make enough money to adequately cover food expenses at the grocery store. They rely on a foodbank for help. And the food bank relies on volunteers like you so they can be open. Skills required are a warm and welcoming manner, able to work with a broad range of people and have compassion for those less fortunate.
There are several jobs to choose from-
- Client/Cart Assistant– Assist clients to their vehicle with the carts. Assist in unloading the cart, Requires good communication skills, ability to stand and walk for 3 hours and lift 25lbs.
- Client Shopper– help clients select proper items and get them into the cart. Must work well under pressure, have good time management skills, communication skills, walk and stand for 3 hours and lift 25 lbs.

Willow Park Food Bank
Open every other Monday. Next date is April 20th 3:00 pm 6:00 pm
Clients will need to come to the back of the building. We ask that clients have a seat on one of the chairs provided and they will be called to the window when it is their turn. We will be passing their food though a second window. At this time we will not be allowing anyone to enter the building. These measures are being put in place to protect our volunteers. We also ask that anyone who is sick or self isolating to please stay home.
If you require Emergency Food we will try to have some FOOD DELIVERED to you. However it would only be a front door drop off. There can be zero contact with our people. I can be reached at 289-600-2265.
