Client Choice Food Pantry

Hearts Harvest Food Pantry provides physical nourishment through groceries and other items although, the pantry offers much more than just groceries. Through relationships, the ministry’s staff and volunteers are able to make personal connections with our neighbors. The pantry is a living example of God’s love for His people and hundreds of individuals and families are visiting this program of Hearts for the Homeless® each month. Just as with the Mobile Soup Kitchen, Hearts Harvest Food Pantry provides critical information about other services that are available in the area.

The food pantry offers a program like no other utilizing a client choice distribution method so individuals and families can choose the food that personally suits their needs. Therefore, we offer more than non-perishable goods. With the help of FeedMore WNYs Food Bank program, we offer the traditional items you may find at a local food pantry. Hearts Harvest Food Pantry also makes fresh foods available. We reach out to local farms, community gardens, as well as seek out food in bulk from local companies in order to bring these fresh items to the food pantry. These direct purchases are made possible through financial support from donors and our textile recycling program.

We changed worship styles, trained greeters and ushers, wore name tags, brewed coffee, went to workshops on hospitality and put our friendliest people

New Food Pantry Opening In Buffalo

    More Videos

BUFFALO, N.Y. The Community Action Organization of Western New York will open a new food pantry inside of the Resource Council of WNY on Tuesday,

Brandi Haynes, vice president of Adult Services said the pantry is needed “obviously because of food disparity on the east side of Buffalo or many low-income neighborhoods in Buffalo and Erie County. This was exacerbated by the May 14 tragedy at tops. This is one of the highest populated food deserts,” she said.

The food pantry inside The Resiliency Center at Research Council Western New York is located at 347 E. Ferry Street.

“This is a collaboration that’s been in the works for about six months,” Haynes said.

Anyone that lives in the 14208 or 14209 zip codes who is income eligible can receive food.

“Right now that is anyone that’s 200% or below the federal poverty level.”

    The pantry will be open through August 19 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The hours will change after August 19.

“Food is very expensive right now because of inflation caused by the pandemic. So, even though Tops is back open, many people, unfortunately, may not be comfortable going in there, yet, And many people still cannot afford to feed their actual households throughout the course of the month,” Haynes said.
