Especially needed are proteins like: peanut butter, canned meats, stews etc.
Bring your donations to the Food Pantry collection site located just outside of St. Pauls Chapel on the main level located under the steps leading to the sanctuary.
We participate in an ecumenical food pantry located at First Baptist Church, 301 Walker Rd, Dover, DE 19904, 674-1980.
Our United Methodist Men weigh and transport the food every month to the First Baptist Church.
The First Baptist Church Food Pantry distributes by referrals on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Food Bank Of Delaware Moving To Quarterly Drive
Large monthly drive-thru food pantries hosted by the Food Bank of Delaware will end soon.
During the COVID pandemic, the Food Bank of Delaware handed out just shy of three million pounds of food at monthly drive-thru food pantries, which currently are continuing.
And Food Bank communications director Kim Turner says those drive-thru food pantries will continue through the end of this year to help food-insecure Delawareans.
But next year, she says they will move to a quarterly schedule.
The quarterly distributions will, were hoping will, line up close to holidays,” said Turner. “So a Thanksgiving large distribution and a distribution close to the Easter holiday.
Turner adds the Food Bank hosts small, community-based mobile pantries five to six days a week in churches, community parks and neighborhoods,
“We want people to know that the Food Bank of Delaware is out in the community every day distributing food, not just during these large quarterly distributions,” she said, “We know that some people travel from all parts of the counties in which they live to get to the distributions. At the height of the pandemic the monthly distribution were very needed as a lot of smaller community food pantries had closed their doors.
And she notes that many of the smaller community food pantries up and down the First State that closed during the pandemic are re-opening to assist those facing food insecurity.

Food Bank Of Delaware Holds First 2021 Drive
The Food Bank of Delaware is looking at how it can sustain feeding hungry Delawareans as long as necessary during the COVID pandemic.
The Food Bank of Delaware holds its first series of drive-thru mobile food pantries of 2021 this week.
We are committed to continuing these distributions, said Food Bank spokeswoman Kim Turner. We know that the economic impact of the pandemic is going to be here for a while. A lot of people are struggling to make ends meet. So we want to make sure we can provide these additional resources to people.
Turner says the organization hosted 27 drive-thru mobile food pantries locally in 2020, distributing three million pounds of food.
Turner adds the Food Bank also worked with its network of food pantries across the First State and held on-site events at their Newark and Milford locations.
The latest round of drive-thru mobile pantries starts Monday, Jan 25, at Dover International Speedway at 11 a.m. followed by events at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington on Wednesday, Jan 27 at 11 a.m. and Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown on Friday, Jan 29, also at 11 a.m.
Turner says the organization is positioned to keep up these events and others.
We are thankful that our community has been very generous over this time, said Turner. We do have the resources to continue to do this at least for a year. We have been fortunate that we have received quite a bit of food from the USDA over the past year through the trade mitigation.

The City of Wilmington is partnering with the Food Bank of Delaware to bring the Food Banks Mobile Food Pantry to the city this week.
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the Mobile Food Pantry will distribute free fresh fruit, vegetables, beans, rice, dairy and other products to residents who register for the event. Those who register will receive food products for as long as supplies last. There is no guarantee that the giveaway items will be available for those who wait to register at the event, according to a news release.
To pre-register, residents must call Lanean Gilmore at 576-3775.
Pre-registered residents can pick up their free food at the Food Bank Mobile Unit, which will be parked on West Sixth Street between North Madison and North Monroe streets in Wilmington from 11 a.m. until supplies last next Tuesday. A Delaware I.D. is required. Residents are asked to please bring their own bags, boxes or cart to carry their items, according to a news release.

We thought maybe after the holidays, things would ease up a little bit, but that wasnt the case. So well be ready for the March influx of people who are in line to receive the assistance.
Turner says theyll be prepared to assist 1,500 families at that Dover event.
Additional events are set for Monday, March 1 at Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown and Friday, March 5 at Delaware Tech in Stanton.
Turner notes that Food Bank staff is seeing a number of repeat customers at these drive-thru pantries.
She adds the Food Bank is partnering with the University of Delaware on a study on people utilizing the drive-thru distributions. About 69% of respondents say they were not using food pantries prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Food Bank hosted 27 drive-thru mobile food pantries locally in 2020, distributing three million pounds of food.

The Mobile Pantry Travels To Underserved Communities To Deliver Shelf
The truck travels to vulnerable communities to serve families directly near their homes.
The truck comes filled with nonperishables, fresh produce, dairy, beverages and other refrigerated and frozen items, as well as personal products when available.
The truck visits community access points in both a scheduled and pop-up fashion, and volunteers help distribute food to families in need.

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and its Partner Agencies are providing food to neighborhoods by the truckload.
Featuring an average of 13,000 15,000 pounds of supplemental food, the Mobile Food Pantry allows agencies the ability to target areas of great need- even though they may not be physically located in that area.

The Mobile Pantry averages 10-12 deliveries a week throughout the Food Banks 22 county service area.
How to Organize a Mobile Food Pantry
- Find a location for distribution. This may be the parking lot of your agency, a school, or other easily accessible location within the community.
- Make sure you have permission first!
- Schedule a day and time for delivery with the Food Bank.
- Announce the time of distribution to your clients and others in the neighborhood who are in need.
- On the day of distribution, have volunteers on-site to help distribute food and record who received it.
- After the food is distributed, dispose of all trash and return pallets and unused boxes to trailer bays.

Thanks to the ongoing community partnership with the Food Bank of Delaware, a Food Bank Mobile Pantry will be held on the DTCC Georgetown Campus for students and employees on Wednesday, September 28 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 pm. There will provide contactless delivery in the Library Parking Lot. Individuals will be asked to stay in their vehicles and have their trunk cleared so that food may be placed there. The Food Bank of Delaware is hosting mobile food pantries this week in an effort to feed more Delaware residents. The mobile pantry travels to underserved communities to delivery shelf-stable and perishable foods. This is part of the Food Banks efforts to serve residents closer to their homes. According to The Food Bank website, the truck comes filled with nonperishables, fresh produce, dairy, beverages and other refrigerated and frozen items, as well as personal products when available. The truck visits community access points in both a scheduled and pop-up fashion, and volunteers help distribute food to families in need.
According to recent data from Feeding America, prior to COVID-19 there were approximately 105,000 food-insecure Delawareans. At the height of the pandemic it is estimated that more than 140,000 of our neighbors struggled with food insecurity. Now that we are in recovery, Feeding America estimates that there are more than 114,000 food-insecure Delawareans.

A food pantry originally scheduled for Monday, Jan. 17 at Crossroads Community Church in Georgetown has been rescheduled to Monday, Jan. 24 due to the potential for winter weather throughout Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend.
In a press release, the food bank reminded participants to ensure their trunks or back seats are cleared out so that volunteers are able to load food.
To help speed up the check-in process, participants are asked to pre-register, although on-site registration will also be available.
Service will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and assistance is limited to one per household. Attendees must be present to receive assistance.
According to the press release, the food bank is prepared to serve up to 1,200 households at each pantry.
Recipients must bring proof that they live in Delaware, such as a state-issued ID, utility bill, Delaware SNAP benefits card or other documentation that demonstrates proof of residency.
