Charlotte Food Banks Free Pantries And Resources For Families In Need
By CLTure
North Carolina offers several food banks and free pantries that assist during these trying times. Many food banks also partner with churches, soup kitchens and shelters throughout the state. Food Banks are also a great place to learn about resources and services while getting advice on government programs and local charities. There are even organizations in the state that can help with free diapers and baby supplies.
Many of the organizations that provide assistance require a call in advance for same-day pick and/or referrals from a local church. Of course, you can also call to find out how you can donate food or time to help those in need.

Extending Gods Love Ebony Gill

I am so humbled at the love and consideration that the saints at Care to Share Outreach have for their brothers and sisters. I found out about the place after I had been robbed of my purse and needed provisions for my house. A lot of food pantries that help may give you a bag or two of items, which is greatly appreciated, but that is all that I was expecting to receive from Care to Share as well. I got there a little late because I didn’t know the time. I arrived at 2:30 p.m. and they close at 3. They told me to get a number and they would make sure that I got some help no matter what. All that you need is an NC ID with a picture. I did not have one because I was robbed earlier. I simply went to Mrs. Hattie and asked her if I could use the temporary ID that I was given at the DMV and she said there was no problem. I am thankful for people who truly have the Holy Spirit and will help their neighbor in time of need. God bless all of you!

Its Very Much Needed: Local Food Pantry The Bulb Working To Meet Increased Demands During Holiday Season
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Local food pantries like The Bulb in Charlotte work year-round to ensure that families in local food-insecure communities are able to food on their tables.
During the holiday season, that demand is even greater. Especially with the rising rates of inflation at the grocery store.
Operations Manager Dulce Jarquin Pacheco says the organization is having less and less leftover food after its weekly markets because more families are in need of fresh, barrier-free groceries.
People feel great that were there weekly, so we are a reliable source that were there weekly, Jarquin Pacheco said. So just like you to go the grocery store once a week, were there once a week for people to come.
The Bulb says it has organized over 500 weekly markets so far in 2022, nearly double the number from before the pandemic began. The group has also distributed over 187,000 pounds of food this year, helping feed over 47,000 individuals in the community.
For them, like showing up every week, not just making us smile that we have become part of a family to them, that they feel comfortable coming to us, Jarquin Pacheco said.
Anyone interested in making a food or financial donation can visit The Bulbs website. Jarquin Pacheco says the organization is always welcoming new donors, including any local grocery stores willing to let them pick up rescue food, which is food the grocery store is preparing to throw out but hasnt expired yet.

Volunteer At The Food Bank

Every day, Food Bank volunteers make an incredible contribution to our community. Volunteers are vital to ensuring nutritious food reaches our friends and neighbors.
We cannot do this important work alone!
I enjoy volunteering immenselyit feels like genuinely useful work, and is a nice physical break from my screen-heavy job. Ive also enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the food distribution system in the USto see what happens to extras/seconds/damaged/other unwanted items from supermarkets/producers, what happens to stuff you give to food drives, what the government does and doesnt do to ensure food security. -Volunteer
The Food Bank is honored to be certified by Points of Light as a Service Enterprise! Our certification signifies that we have the capability and management expertise to strategically use our amazing volunteers to make an even bigger difference, not only in our warehouses, but in our communities. This is a prestigious accomplishment, and we are proud to join the top 11 percent of nonprofits nationwide in volunteer management and organizational performance.

How Porch Works
PORCH is built around the very simple idea of a neighborhood food drive. Heres how it works, in three easy steps:
- Once a month, on a designated day, residents place a food donation on their front porch.
- A volunteer neighborhood coordinator goes porch to porch and picks up the food donations.
- The donated food is transported by car to a local food bank or food pantry
The three-step process is easy, fast, and its also safe.
