Content Exclusivity On Food Delivery Platforms Surviving In A Recession Planning For Effectiveness
As we approach the end of the year and think about our 2023 plans, I thought Id share this piece of insight from the US. Research from the investment bank Piper Sandler shows that TikTok has tightened its grip on the attention spans of teenagers:
It reminded me of KFC UK & Irelands recent activation to promote KFC Delivery, which has featured across TV and social media . The KFC team created The Colonels Arms pub to promote their delivery proposition: the TikTok has generated nearly 4 million views and tickets to the pub sold out!
In this Fall 2022 survey, almost 4 in 10 US teens surveyed named TikTok their favourite social media platform, up from 33% in the previous survey conducted during the Spring. Instagram, which last led the teen social media popularity sweepstakes in 2015, has fallen but retains its lead as the most widely used.
I thought this was another interesting development in social media and evidence that we have to adapt quickly to changing trends and dynamics among younger consumers.
Can Someone Else Pick Up My Box For Me
Yes! C.S.F.P. participants may choose to designate one or more proxies when they sign up for C.S.F.P. A proxy is someone who has permission to pick up a C.S.F.P. box on the participants behalf when they are not able to pick up the box in person. We encourage seniors who are not able to pick up boxes themselves to have family members, friends, or neighbors act as their proxies and attend distributions on their behalf.
If you are a current C.S.F.P. participant who would like to add a new proxy, please bring a handwritten note to your next distribution. The note should include your name, the name of your proxy, a statement that you are appointing this person to be your proxy, your signature, and the date.
If you are hoping to pick up food on behalf of a senior who is not yet a C.S.F.P. participant, you can sign them up for the program on their behalf by providing a signed note and a copy of one of the accepted forms of identification for C.S.F.P. Make sure the signed note includes their name, your name, a statement that the senior is appointing you to be their proxy, their signature, and the date.

Things To Keep In Mind About Silver Cuisine By Bistromd
- Expensive shipping for small orders
- Not as gourmet or fresh as cooking it yourself
For seniors who love home-cooked meals but don’t enjoy cooking or don’t have the time, Silver Cuisine is for you! Silver Cuisine offers a rotating menu of around 150 meals, with everything from breakfast to dinner to snacks and smoothies. Every meal is chef-prepared, so when it shows up at your door, all you have to do is throw it in the microwave for a few minutes! Silver Cuisine meals are easy to freeze so that you can plan out your meals for a week or two in advance.
Picking out meals on Silver Cuisines website
One of our favorite things about Silver Cuisine is that their meals are designed by doctors, specifically for seniors’ nutritional needs. Plus, they have a wide range of dietary options, including gluten-free, low sodium, heart-healthy, diabetes-friendly, vegetarian, and menopause-friendly meals.
Taylor Shuman, one of our editors, sent her Grandma Judy a Silver Cuisine delivery to test out the company’s offerings and give us the inside scoop. Because visiting each other in person is difficult with COVID, she and her grandma have meals together over Zoom from time to time to catch up. Thank goodness for the Internet! Silver Cuisine made it easy to enjoy a tasty meal together, even though they couldn’t be in the same place. Judy was excited to try out Silver Cuisine, as she typically cooks her own meals, but wanted to try something new for days when she’s crunched for time.
Do I Need To Attend A Public Distribution To Receive Food For Seniors Products
No, once you are enrolled in the program you can designate a proxy to pick up your food for you. Proxies can be designated at the time of enrollment or by filling out a Proxy Authorization Form.
Individuals will need to personally attend their first Food for Seniors distribution to enroll in the program. Individuals unable to attend due to a medical reason, can have their health care provider fill out a medical waiver to allow their proxy to enroll them in the program.

Seniors Struggle With Food Insecurity
By the third week of the month, were wiped out. The box gets us to the next payday.
A volunteer helps a participant with his CSFP box.
Many seniors struggle with food insecurity due to a number of factors including fixed income and limited mobility. In addition, seniors are more susceptible to health issues and need nutritious food to stay well and thrive.
Through our network of member agencies, more than 20% of the people served by the Rhode Island Community Food Bank are over the age of 60. To meet some of the special needs of this population, the Food Bank participates in the federal governments Commodity Supplemental Food Program which provides seniors with a box of healthy food every month.
Other Sources Of Crisis Support For Local People
Its not right at any time that people are forced to use a food bank to get the basic essentials they need. Now more than ever, were calling on the government and local authority to increase the vital support they can offer, to ensure all households have sufficient money for food.
As well as the government urgently reducing the five week wait for Universal Credit payment and making Advance Payments into grants not loans, were asking Wandsworth Council to greatly expand the crisis financial help they can provide to households whose income has been stretched or stopped altogether. For instance, neighbouring borough Kensington and Chelsea this week announced theyre boosting their local welfare assistance scheme by an initial £500,000 to support local people in financial crisis, which is separate from from the £500 million hardship fund promised by the Chancellor to local authorities on 11 March.

Home Deliveries Benefit From Tech Help
A survey of 50 food banks of all sizes found that larger food banks are more likely to rely on technology and operations partners for help in making home deliveries, bringing more efficiency to their programs.
Home deliveries, rarely offered by food banks before the pandemic, have become much more standard as food banks seek ways to expand access to food for people affected by the pandemic. More than 70% of respondents to the survey, which was conducted by Helping Hands Community, a nonprofit technology company specializing in home delivery, say they are already doing home delivery or are actively considering starting a program.
However, all the things that prevented food banks from diving into home delivery before the pandemic such as the added expense and difficulty of managing the logistics and volunteers remain relevant today. Affordability and reliability in home delivery have proven challenging to come by, the survey noted.
One pantry-manager respondent said staff members are getting fatigued because they often need to make deliveries after their scheduled shifts when volunteers fail to show up. A program manager at a medium-sized social services organization said it wont be able to meet increased demand for home delivery because its maxed out its budget and has not been able to find a partner that is reliable and delivers in a manner that aligns with our values.

Usda Commodities And Csfp
CSFP is a discretionary program funded each year through the federal appropriations process. For this reason, the program is only able to serve as many eligible participants as funding allows.
CSFP provides USDA commodities and administrative funds to States, storing and transporting the food to local agencies for distribution to low-income clients. CSFP is the only USDA nutrition program that provides monthly food assistance specially targeted at low-income seniors. The $27 cost to USDA of providing commodities results in a monthly food package with an average retail value of $50.
Most participants pick up their monthly CSFP food package at a food bank or other local sponsor. Participants also can have an authorized designee pick up their food package. Some communities deliver the food package directly to the participants home, a critical program feature for seniors with limited mobility.

Food Pantries Versus Food Delivery
Food Banks have been around for decades now, and for most of that time, most of the food has been distributed through partner agency networks. Partner agencies are food pantries, soup kitchens, or other food relief organizations that receive food from their local Food Banks. Since Food Bank warehouses are large and have significant truck and forklift activity, they are generally not ideal for food distribution. In the case of the LA Regional Food Bank, partner agencies are spread throughout all of Los Angeles County, allowing food to be distributed to those in need on a local level.
However, food pantries and other food relief organizations most commonly distribute food at their location, so community members need to travel to these locations to get food assistance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, older adults and those with underlying health conditions were encouraged to stay home and avoid public settings, which made visiting a food pantry difficult.
Amazon is thankful to have built long-standing partnerships with organizations like the LA Regional Food Bank, whom we can support in addressing food insecurity, said Bettina Stix, Amazons director of Global Product and Volunteering. Over the past two years, were humbled by the impact and reach of this partnership to connect with families across the region, and look forward to continuing our work with LA Regional Food Bank to expand access to nutritious meals.

The Homemade Feel Meal
While most of us enjoy eating out from time to time, it can get expensive. Plus, those delicious gourmet meals are often high in calories, and it’s harder to keep track of the ingredients and nutrients you’re getting. That’s where grocery delivery and meal kit services come in!
If you still enjoy cooking, these delivery services make it simple and easy. There are three main types of homemade meal delivery services:
Let’s take a look at some of our favorite homemade meal delivery services that we’ve reviewed from each of the above categories.

Find Food Bank Delivers Meals To Homebound Seniors
Every other week volunteers at FIND Food Bank, The Deserts Regional Food Bank deliver meals to homebound seniors. We followed along their food delivery route and met some of the seniors who benefit from this program.
I needed it so bad I was eating peanut butter for almost two weeks. Pam Marruffo one of the homebound seniors in Cathedral City told News Channel 3.
Michel Brotman is one of those volunteers at FIND Food Bank who delivered food right to Marruffo’s doorstep.
Thank you so much, wow! Rose Marie James, another homebound senior said when her food was delivered.
During the pandemic, there is a large group of individuals that are not able to get food for themselves, nor can they send friends or family to get it for them so weve screened and identified this group of individuals we then have volunteers that are bringing food to their doorsteps so it remains completely contactless, Erin Lucas, the Volunteer Program Manager at FIND Food Bank told News Channel 3.
Very often theyve got tears in their eyes and they are so appreciative and you can tell by actually going to where they live you can see why they arent able to get food,” Brotman said. “They dont have a car and some of them have physical disabilities, he added.
FIND Food Bank delivers about 103 meals a month to homebound seniors.
Without them, we couldnt survive, Marruffo said.
Included in the boxes of food from FIND Food Bank are fresh produce, proteins and other sustainable food items.
Were Switching To Home Delivery Only Of Emergency Food From Monday 30 March
27th March 2020
From Monday 30 March were switching our food bank service to home delivery only. This temporary measure is so we can continue to provide emergency food to people in financial crisis, in as safe a way as possible.
Although our five food bank centres in Battersea, Putney, Southfields and Tooting will be closed, people can still be referred to us by our nearly 200 referral partners across the borough. Were deeply committed to helping everyone who has no other means of putting food on the table, and were glad to support them at this time.
Our referral partners will email a completed voucher to us, and well call the person or family to arrange delivery of emergency food and essential toiletries to their doorstep. Well also ask people if they need phone advice from our Foodbank Advice Project, for instance on housing, employment or benefits.

Have you received home delivery from a food program? We want to hear from you!
In March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic the Ottawa Food Bank and several of its member agencies launched home delivery programs, designed to offer food security support those in the Ottawa community who were unable to safely visit their local and emergency food banks in person.
Two years on, there remains a clear and present need for reliable home deliveries in Ottawa, which the various home delivery programs across the city have continued to adapt and evolve to meet. Now, the Ottawa Food Bank is looking to see a centralized home delivery service to support food security agencies across Ottawa within the mandate of a suitable organization.
To assist in this process, the Ottawa Food Bank would like to hear your thoughts on the existing food bank home delivery services available, ideas for improvement or adaptation of the system, learnings and success stories from similar community resources, and your opinions on what makes an organization suitable to host such a program.
You can participate through a survey!
If you are unable to attend the focus groups, please consider taking our online survey, and sharing it with anyone you believe to be knowledgeable about the Ottawa Food Bank and the landscape of food security programming across the city.
Participants can be entered in a draw for grocery store gift cards.
