Do Food Banks Want Dog Food
For the most part, food banks are happy to receive donations of dog food. This is because pet owners who are struggling to make ends meet may not be able to afford to feed their pets, and as a result, may need to surrender them to a shelter.
First, its important to check with the specific food bank to see what kinds of foods they accept and whether or not they have any restrictions on donated items.
Second, since many people who rely on food banks also have allergies or other dietary restrictions, its best to donate unopened bags or cans of dog food that are free of additives and preservatives. Finally, remember that even though dogs are considered mans best friend, not everyone shares your love for them! So please be considerate when donating dog food and make sure it is something that the food bank is actually able to use.

Donate The Food At A Pet Event
This is another one where you want to call ahead and make sure theyll take the food youre looking to donate, but pet events often accept donations of food that they can feed to pets during the event.
Many of these are adoption events, and keeping the animals happy and comfortable is the top priority for the event organizers. Happy pets are more likely to be adopted, after all! Many of these events will take open bags of dog food but check before you bring it over. While its unlikely that you have nefarious intentions, the organizers of these events have to be wary of people who might try to poison the animals.

Las Spca Needs Food Donations To Fill Shortage At Shelters
The Los Angeles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals issued a plea to the public Monday for donations of food for the dogs and cats in its care saying its reserve levels are dangerously low.
If you are out shopping for your family, please think of shelter pets and grab a can or bag for them, said spcaLA President Madeline Bernstein. We go through about 37 tons of pet food every year.
The agency attributed the shortage to an uptick in animal intake and a prolonged kitten season.
Other items such as non-clumping clay cat litter, dog chews, gently used clean blankets and towels, stainless steel dog/cat bowls, newspaper, Kuranda beds and dog/cat toys are also needed, spcaLA said.
According to the agency, it routinely works with corporate donors and individuals to provide donations, but without public support, it may have to divert funds from programs such as animal cruelty investigations and violence prevention initiatives to fill the need.
All donations are tax deductible.
People can drop off donations at any of spcaLAs four locations, or donate through the agencys Amazon Wish List or Chewy Wish List.
The Amazon wish list can be found at https://www.amazon.com/hz/charitylist/lists/95-1738153/ref=smi_se_clpf_rd_clpf?ref_=smi_se_cl_u_rd_www.

Feed The Need: Donate To The Pet Food Pantry
No pet parent should have to feel the panic and stress of prioritizing pet food purchases against a laundry list of other financial responsibilities. Especially if it means the difference between keeping their beloved pets or surrendering them to the shelter.
But as the spread of COVID-19 continues, so do these struggles for millions of families who are feeling the pressure of unemployment or reduced wages. With curbside pet food pickup event back in May 2020, we reached over 700 families in need and we were able to give away over 15,000 pounds of food.
Still, 30 minutes before distribution was supposed to end, we ran out of food and, unfortunately, had to turn people away. Between the overwhelming turnout at the giveaway and the continued spike in Pet Food Pantry appointments overall, it is clear to us that there is still more need.
We are preparing for our second community pet food giveaway, but we could use your help with food donations so we dont have to turn families in need away for lack of resources.

Meet The Chuck Waggin Board
These are the people who make it happen!
A subsidiary of PACC911, Chuck Waggin was founded in 2012 by Donna Barker to address the needs of too many people abandoning their pets because they could no longer afford to keep them.
Chuck Waggin is a vital arm of PACC911, providing much needed pet food and pet service referrals to keep animals and the families who love them together.
Donna Barker President/Founder
I love all dogs and cats. I formed Chuck Waggin Pet Food Pantry, a division of PACC911, because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of hungry pets and the families who own them.
I was in the mortgage industry for more than 30 years as a Manager, Regional Manager and Managing Vice President. Pets are a big part of the American family today and some of these families are being torn apart because of financial difficulties. If I can help at least 1 family stay together with their pet, by helping feed that animal through Chuck Waggin Pet Food Pantry, then I have started the process of achieving my goal.
Tina Lopez Vice President
In addition to serving on the board for Chuck Waggin, Tina is PACC911s vice president and current President for the Association of Fundraising Professionals . She built a career in the nonprofit sector working for the Arizona Humane Society,Arizona Animal Welfare League,The Arizona Pet Project , Save the Family Foundation,Child Crisis Arizona and Animal Outlook .
