As part of the Downtown Eastside, we have become a resource for many pet guardians and community support workers by providing supplies and preventative care. To help pet guardians we take a harm reduction approach by showing respect for the person and building relationships. Charlies is a volunteer-operated program and all pet food and supplies are donated. A group of dedicated BC SPCA volunteers allows us to help more animals and maintain a presence in the community.
We strive to provide a supportive, respectful and friendly environment. We want Charlies to be a safe place for visitors, members, volunteers and animals.
Chewy Achieves Pet Food Donation Milestone
DANIA BEACH, FLA. Chewy has announced a new donation milestone, surpassing more than $100 million of pet food and supplies donations as part of its philanthropy initiative, Chewy Gives Back. The initiative seeks to aid non-profit animal welfare organizations throughout the United States by providing pet food and various pet supplies.
The Chewy Gives Back initiative was founded in 2012 and currently serves more than 9,000 shelters and rescues.

Michigan Humanes Judith Caplan Phillips Pet Pantry program assists thousands of families in need in the metro Detroit area. Thanks to our partners at Purina, Greater Good, Rescue Bank and Forgotten Harvest, were able to provide dog and cat food at no charge to owned pets in an effort to keep animals in their current homes.
How to Donate Pet Food
The Judith Caplan Phillips Pet Pantry program is dependent on the generosity of the public and important sponsors. Bags and cans of dog or cat food can be donated at any of Michigan Humanes locations during regular adoption hours.
Unopened bags are preferred opened bags will be accepted as long as the food is in its original manufacturer packaging and includes the expiration date.
