Become A Student Organization Sponsor

If you belong to a WCU student organization or sports team that is interested in supporting the Pantry, please consider becoming a Pantry sponsor. Student Organization Sponsors host regular fundraisers or item drives to benefit the Pantry. Student Organization Sponsors may select to host a fundraiser or drive once a year, once a semester, or monthly. Food Drive Helps Aid Food Insecurity In Chester County

The goal was to gather as many nonperishable food donations for the Chester County Food Bank.

The conclusion of the Sunrise Senior Living Facility took place Wednesday.The goal was to gather as many nonperishable food donations for the Chester County Food Bank.

“There’s a lot of diapers. There’s a lot of canned goods, cereal, different things to support those in need for the Chester County Food Bank,” says Morgan Breting, area director of business development with Sunrise Senior Living.

Along with their many partners, Sunrise gathered donations to ease the burden for families throughout the county during the holiday season.

Chester County Food Banks CEO, Andrea Youndt, says that inflation has affected everyone, especially in Chester County.

“That is creating an increased need across our county and so every donation really goes right into the hands of those who need it the most,” says Youndt.

Most of the donations were gathered by residents of the senior living home. The food bank’s truck was packed full of food by Sunrise staff as well as their partners. The truck made its way back to the facility where it will be weighed, sorted and finally distributed to the families that need it most.

The Chester County Food Bank relies on contributions from individuals, organizations, and corporations to:

• Support our innovative programs to address the root causes of hunger through advocacy and education
• Keep our freezers running and our trucks on the road
• Purchase food in bulk enabling us to pay a lower cost per pound than that of food bought at retail prices by individuals.
• 83% of all donations go directly to program and operating costs to provide access to healthy food for those struggling with food insecurity in Chester County.

Rising Costs Rising Need Help Us Rise To The Challenge

Your support for the Chester County Food Bank ensures that no one in our community needs to choose between food and heat this winter, or wonder about their next meal. Your support is about more than food on the table its about joining together to rise to the challenge to serve our neighbors so ALL of us can rise strong.

Persons aged 72 and over who own an IRA must take an annual Required Minimum Distribution, or RMD, which is taxed as income. If any portion of the RMD is donated to a qualified charity ), this portion is tax deductible. This donation is known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD. This information may be more relevant to those who give smaller annual donations. Often, this is not enough for a regular income tax deduction.

Of the 3.5 million pounds of food distributed, over 50% is fresh items such as fruit, vegetables, and eggs.

Free Food Food Pantries Groceries And Meals In Chester County

Food pantries in Chester County Pennsylvania provide limited direct aid, including free groceries and some may even have financial assistance. Or get free hygiene supplies, find boxes of groceries from a food bank near you, baby formula and more. Programs are offered to residents of the local community who have basic needs that have to be met. Some of the services provided on most days include free boxes of food, meals, and assistance with items such as clothing, personal products, baby supplies, diapers, and more.

Thousands of families receive some form of assistance every year. Do not hesitate to call a local Chester County food bank for help, and find a phone number at the bottom of the page for more information. While priority is usually given to the low income, seniors, disabled, or unemployed, rarely will anyone be turned away if the center has funding.

In addition to offering free food or Christmas meals to qualified residents, some of the pantries may even have limited financial assistance available. Or they operate Meals on Wheels for the disabled or elderly in Chester County. The non-profits may also arrange for holiday assistance, or counselors/volunteers who can direct the needy to local charities, resources or government programs such as food stamps.

1. Create a plan for your food driveDecide if you will collect food, funds, or both. Setting a goal and time frame helps add energy and a sense of urgency to your drive. Make it fun and consider competition between your groups, departments, or classes to collect the most pounds or number of boxes/cans as well as money collected. Consider hosting a virtual food drive or team fundraiser along with your traditional food drive. Please keep in mind that we prefer items that are not in glass! Once we have a plan, please register your food drive.

2. Arrange your food drive suppliesThe Food Bank does not supply collection bins/boxes. Copy paper boxes and plastic totes work well for most organizations. Use our printable flyers and posters to promote your food drive or create your own we ask that you include the CCFB logo in promoting your event. You can download our logo from the toolkit below.

Chester County Food Bank Receives $50000 Donation From West Chester’s Qvc

Chester County Food Bank has announced that QVC is the first corporate donor to rise to the challenge posed by Bentley Systems as part of their Meet the Need Matching Gift Challenge with a $50,000 donation. Bentley Systems will match dollar-for-dollar all monetary contributions donated through the end of the year, up to $200,000. The challenge is a focused call to action for local businesses, groups, and organizations to step up and join the effort to help those in Chester County struggling with food insecurity.

QVC has been a long-time supporter of the Chester County Food Bank and we are honored to donate to the Bentley Systems Matching Gift Challenge and Meet the Need alongside fellow Chester County-based businesses, groups and organizations, said Kate Sheehan, Senior Manager of Community Affairs, Qurate Retail Group. The incredible work done by this local organization exemplifies our companys commitment to creating positive change for the communities where we live and work specifically through addressing food insecurity.

Tens of thousands of families, children, seniors, veterans, and individuals in Chester County are struggling to put food on the table. The funds from the Match Challenge will allow Chester County Food Bank to provide over 156,000 healthy meals to those in need The demand for food has increased by more than 30 percent, yet food and financial donations have decreased by more than 25 percent.

Donated Food Is Vital To Helping Us Provide Food To Neighbors Struggling With Food Insecurity

Food and Fund Drives put the power of giving in your hands

Whether its a bag of groceries from your pantry, a food drive held at an office, or a truckload of eggs from a distribution center, donated food is an integral part of our distribution to our network of over 160 food cupboards and social service agencies so they can serve those in need in our community. We partner with organizations big and small to reduce food waste and source high-quality, nutritious food. We also gratefully accept food donations from our community, all of which supports us so we can help those in need.

We have a continuous need for food and fund drives. The Food Bank is housed in a 36,000 sq. ft. facility that enables us to safely receive and store all sizes of donations. There is an increase in the number of people that are going to cupboards and social service agencies for assistance but may not qualify for SNAP or other government nutrition assistance programs. Donated food from the community enables our partner agencies and us to provide food to anyone in need. Thanks to the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Law, donors are protected from civil and criminal liability when making donations. Additionally, retailers and food industry partners are eligible for tax incentives for their donations.

Donor-Advised Funds

Consider including non-food items that are not able to be purchased using SNAP .Among the everyday grocery items, you can not purchase using SNAP are:

• personal hygiene
• paper plates/cups

Please consider delivery to our warehouse as part of your food donation. We are located at 650 Pennsylvania Drive in Exton, PA. Food donation pick-up is cost-prohibitive to us in addition to our regular delivery schedule to our community agency network. Please bring food donations to our warehouse loading dock entrance where you can pull directly in and will be assisted in unloading your vehicle. Food donations left after hours will have to be disposed of for safety precautions.

Food For The Hungry Through Chester County Food Bank

Number of people that are struggling with hunger in the world is shocking. Around 690 million people regularly go to bed hungry. Our goal is to help this cause locally and reduce this number. We would like to start by helping the Chester County food bank system which provides hungry people with nutritious meals. Chester County consists of over 30,000 food insecure people. A world with zero hunger can positively impact things like our education and economy. Donations to this cause would bring us one step closer to ending it completely, and with your support, We will be able to help the Chester County Food Bank provide numerous people with nutritious meals.

Veteran’s Food Pantry Opens

A food pantry recently opened its doors at the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center to help Veterans who are finding it difficult to maintain adequate food supply for themselves and their families.

The new Lincoln’s Promise Food Pantry is the result of the Chester County Food Bank and the Coatesville VAMC’s longstanding collaborative efforts to address food insecurity in Chester County.

“We want to make sure Veterans are eating and despite the phenomenal work of Chester County community organizations, there are gaps in programs and services that leave food insecure Veterans wondering where to turn,” said Meredith Kenny, Assistant Chief of Nutrition and Food Services. “Support from the Lincoln’s Promise Food Pantry is supplemental to any support Veterans may already be receiving and is designed to help fill in those gaps.”

Accepting DonationsChester County Food Bank donated the initial food supplies needed to stock the shelves of the new space, but Kenny hopes the pantry can eventually collect enough donations on their own to sustain the communities Veterans. Organizations and individuals looking to donate to the Lincoln’s Promise Food Pantry may contact Voluntary Services at , extension 4228.

How it worksEligibility to use the pantry does not depend on an income threshold. Veterans do not need a referral to use the pantry they can self-refer by contacting a Coatesville VAMC nutrition specialist.
