We Are Seeking Donations:
OC Animal Allies graciously accepts monetary donations to purchase food, as well as in-kind donations such as unopened canned and dry pet food, new blankets, toys, leashes and other essentials. We do not have the storage or distribution capabilities to accept frozen or refrigerated product.
If you do consider donating pet food, OC Animal Allies ask that you donate unopened cans or bags of dog and cat food. Due to concerns of contamination, we are not able to accept open or compromised bags.
Want To Help Please Donate Food
The Pet Food Bank accepts donations of unopened, dry or wet dog and cat food. Donations can be dropped off at High Country Humane. Our shelter is open 7 days a week from 11 AM to 5 PM.
At any given time, there are over 200 individuals or families in our community who are registered with us to receive donations of food for their pet through the Pet Food Bank program. This program is intended for people who are unemployed, on state or government assistance, disability, or just need some extra help. If the only issue in keeping pets in their families is assistance with pet food, we are able to help with that.
This program is 100% supported through donations of pet food provided by private individuals and local retailers and is subject to the availability of donated food.
All brands of dry or canned dog, cat, puppy, or kitten food are gratefully accepted. We can also accept open bags of dry food as a donation.
If you are able to donate a bag or a few cans of pet food, know that it will go to help someone in our very own community.

Helping Gloria Feed Her Five Pets For The Month
Twin Cities resident, Gloria, loves to sit in her front yard, basking in the sun with her three little poodles and two senior cats. As a single mom who took care of her five children on her own after a devastating divorce, the long-time pet lover worked multiple jobs, struggling to make ends meet for years. Her children have since grown up, but Gloria still faces financial challenges.
I live on $700 a month I get from social security. I have to be really careful with every penny that comes my way, says Gloria. But Im not embarrassed about my situation. I am a survivor and proud that I dont waste a thing. I know how to stretch a dollar.
Gloria has three poodles and two cats . The five animals are the highlight of her life. They make my life so rewarding and so much better. I dont know what I would do without them, especially since I live alone.
Every month Gloria visits her local food shelf. Her visits help supplement her food pantry. Occasionally the food shelf has pet food, but not always. Animal food is so expensive. I almost think its more expensive then human food. When they dont have pet food, I just try to find people food that I can feed them.
The long-time animal lover was surprised to see her food shelf was stocked with so much cat and dog food recently. She learned it was thanks to Animal Humane Society and GreaterGood.orgs Rescue Bank.

How To Drop Off Your Food Donations

Make sure you know the business hours before you go, and give them a call to confirm your visit .
It would be best not to stuff your automobile to the gills with food. Avoid making repeated journeys by bringing a buddy or two along to help carry some of the weight. Please check the foods condition before donating it.
Please let the food bank know you are dropping off a contribution by checking in at the front desk when you arrive. Dont just drop off your food contributions to the food bank hang around and get a feel for what theyre all about. There is a possibility that you may acquire knowledge about local food insecurity and hunger. Ask if there is any way you may contribute as a virtual volunteer if you are unable to help out at the food bank physically.
Your contribution will now be sorted and stored until the community needs it. If you want to make the most of your time at the food bank, recruiting some assistance from your pals is a great plan. Its a terrific way to get some exercise when you dont have much time. Finally, remember to enjoy yourself throughout your time of service. You can change someones life while contributing to a worthy cause. It is a win-win scenario for everyone involved.

Where Can I Sell My Cat
If you want to sell your cat, then you need to find a reputable animal shelter. Most shelters require proof of rabies vaccination, which costs about $25. Once you have done this, you should visit the shelter at least once a month to check for new cats. The best way to find a cat is to go to local pet stores, and ask them to put up posters around town.

Do you need our help?
In order to help keep pets in their homes when their families are struggling financially, pet food assistance is available through a monthly distribution. The Pet Food Pantry can provide a household with food for up to four spayed and neutered animals for up to six months. If your pet is not yet altered, we can also provide you with information on low-cost spay and neuter options.
This program is designed to assist you in caring for companion animals that have been in your household for 3 months or more. While a member of PFP, you agree not to add or replace your pet population by taking in more animals or allowing animals in your household to breed.
Within 3 months of joining the program, ALL pets in the household MUST be spayed or neutered. We offer reduced fee spay/neuter through IHS Veterinary Medical Center for low-income individuals and families if you need assistance. Subsidized pricing for spay/neuter is $35 for a dog or $10 for a cat. PFP clients qualify to receive veterinary services through our low-cost public veterinary clinic and may qualify for additional discounts based on income and other factors. Contact our clinic at 342-3599 for more details on services and pricing.

How To Start A Pet Food Donation Drive
There are a number of ways you can get involved in donating pet food to those in need. One way is to start your own pet food donation drive. This is a great way to get friends, family, and members of your community involved in giving back.
Here are a few tips on how to get started:
1. Choose a pet food bank or rescue group to donate to. Do some research to find an organization that aligns with your values and that you feel good about supporting.
2. Spread the word about your donation drive. Use social media, flyers, and word-of-mouth to let people know about your drive and how they can help.
3. Collect donations of pet food. Ask local businesses if they would be willing to donate items or gift cards that can be used to purchase pet food. You can also hold collection events at schools, churches, or community centers.
4. Deliver the donations to the chosen organization. Be sure to let them know how much food was collected and who organized the drive!

We need a wide variety of food baby to senior: we like to give the same food an animal is used to eating if possible. Less chance of upset tummies that way. And smaller bags are easier to handle/divvy up. We can always give multiple small bags to a family, but we cannot open and divide a large bag for health and safety reasons.

Where To Drop Off Food Bank Donations
Jul 8, 2022 |
Many families having trouble putting food on the table get help through food banks. They depend on the publics generosity to replenish their shelves, and there are many ways you may contribute. One way is by donating food items.
Food banks collaborate with other organizations to guarantee that all members of their communities have access to nutritious food. They are responsible for collecting, storing, and delivering food items such as vegetables and canned goods. Food products that dont need to be refrigerated, such as cereal and canned foods, are frequently accepted. The likes of milk, eggs, and bread are among the perishable products that may be donated to certain food banks.
Food bank volunteers and those in need of food assistance may find a home at a food bank, which also acts as a resource center for those seeking additional services. They base their work on the values of client autonomy, confidentiality, and the worth of each individual in the communities they serve.

Do Shelters Take Opened Dog Food
What Not to Donate to Animal Shelters. But even with good intentions, not all items can be donated. Often, opened bags or cans of food and treats cannot be accepted, nor can opened medication packages most times. And, again, if items have held or been near chemicals, they are probably not safe for animals.2 Apr 2014
